Galaxy Note 9 vs S7 Edge: Specs & Features

Aside from the screen, another big reason to make the switch is you'll get an increase in specs and features. From four times the storage to an S-Pen chalk full of neat features. The S7 Edge is still a decent phone, but it's a few years and things change pretty quick in the tech world.

Galaxy Note 9 Specs

  • 6.4-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Infinity Display
  • 8-Core Snapdragon 845 Processor
  • 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM (8GB/512GB model available too)
  • Android 8.1 Oreo with Android 9 coming soon
  • Dual 12 Megapixel Rear f/1.5 aperture cameras, variable aperture, 960 FPS slo-motion, 2X optical zoom, both have OIS, more
  • 8 Megapixel front-facing camera (Selfie mode, portrait photos, AR Emoji)
  • Huge 4,000 mAh battery with fast and wireless charging
  • IP68 Dust & Water-resistance, Stereo Speaker tuned by AKG
  • USB Type-C, Bixby 2.0, Bixby AI, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Heart-rate sensor, Face Unlock, Iris Scanning
  • S-Pen with Bluetooth, New Features, etc

That's quite the list. You'll get a bigger screen, tons of RAM, way more storage, lots of power, two sweet new cameras and all-day battery life. Convinced yet? Here's how they compare.

Galaxy S7 Edge Specs

  • 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD AMOLED Display
  • Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM (Or Exynos)
  • 32GB of storage and a microSD slot
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow (Now on Android 8.0 Oreo software)
  • 12 MegaPixel Camera with OIS, f/1.7 aperture and more
  • 5MP front camera
  • Fingerprint scanner on the front
  • IP68 dust and water resistant
  • 3,600 mAh battery with fast and wireless charging
  • Always-On Display
  • Micro-USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, more

Again, the Galaxy S7 Edge is good a great phone. It's more than capable for most of life's daily tasks. Nearly two years later though, your battery probably doesn't last as long and you're likely almost out of space.

That said, the Note 9 has two powerful cameras on the back, more RAM for multi-tasking, 4x the storage, the S-Pen stylus and better battery life. All good things, all good things.

For me, the most exciting aspect of the Galaxy Note 9 is the bigger battery. Even Samsung's 6.2-inch Galaxy S9+ only has a 3,500 mAh battery, and it lasts plenty long. So, now that they packed in a massive 4,000 mAh battery it'll last a lot longer than your old S7 Edge. The Note 9 also introduced a new faster 15w wireless charging technology faster than any other wireless charging device.
