Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Release Just Won’t End

Published

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update release just keeps on going and today, the Galaxy S3’s powerful Android 4.3 update has landed for yet another Galaxy S3 variant, months after the roll out began.

Back in October, Samsung announced a trio of big time software updates. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, it said, would hit the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, and Samsung Galaxy S3 and bring a number of enhancements and features to users including Galaxy Gear support, Samsung Knox and features from some of Samsung’s newer Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean first emerged in October, landing for some carriers in the United States at the tail end of the month. The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates started deploying in November and by the end of December, all three updates were done in the United States. Other regions however, haven’t been so lucky.

Samsung’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates still haven’t rolled out for some Galaxy devices including the Galaxy S3. Today though, we can take another one down off our list as Australian carrier Vodafone has confirmed that its Galaxy S3 3G Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is out of the testing process and into the hands of consumers.

The update is rolling out now which means that users who wish to upgrade from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean can do so now if they so choose. Galaxy S3 users simply need to head into the device’s settings to check for an update. If it’s there, a prompt will pop up and the download and installation process will be begin.

Vodafone’s announcement means that there are only a few visible Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates remaining. Australian carriers Optus and Telstra still owe Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates to their customers. Telstra and Optus both say that they will deliver their updates in March, or, four months after the initial roll out.

While Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is still on the mind of some consumers, Android 4.4 KitKat is on the mind for others. Samsung USA and Samsung Poland recently confirmed Android 4.4 KitKat news for Galaxy S3 owners though the news is both good and bad.

Samsung USA confirmed an Android 4.4 KitKat update for its Galaxy S3 variants while Samsung Poland confirmed that it would not be rolling out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update because of concerns about its performance. The Polish version of the device utilizes 1GB of RAM and it appears that Samsung Poland doesn’t find that to be enough.

It’s still not clear how this will affect other 1GB Galaxy S3 variants around the globe but it does mean there is a solid chance that some Galaxy S3 models will not receive Android 4.4 KitKat down the road.

My 4.3 update on my s3 was a disaster until I did a factory reset. It’s working well now.

Thank you for posting your comment Rodman. My S3 is running terrible with 4.3. I’m going to try a factory reset to see how that works out for me!

Do not update the Galaxy S3 to 4.3 Jelly Bean! My phone is literally crap now, as well as my friends who did the update. We all hate our phones now, the battery life sucks, and the phone is incredibly slow. Even after a full factory reset. Samsung really screwed this one up.

Dont update your s3 to 4.3
    It will ruine battery life.
Wifi settings will be screwed too.
It will make it believe anything less than 65MBps is too slow and kill connection.
Charging will be slower or near to impossible to charge.
Oddly the symtoms seems to vary per phone. (Samsung Netherlands)
