Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Heating Up

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out continues to heat up as another Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update release has begun for an LTE variant of Samsung’s aging former flagship.

Months ago, Google released two new Android 4.4 KitKat updates. First, it was the highly anticipated Android 4.4.3 KitKat update. A few days later, the company pushed out Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Both were, and still are, bug fixers aimed at squashing major Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems and they continue to land for key devices in the build up to Google’s Android L release later this year.

In the past three and a half months, we’ve seen several Android manufacturers make it a point to deliver these two updates to smartphone and tablet users. Samsung finally joined the Android 4.4.4 KitKat party a few days ago as it, and its carrier partners, work to improve their big name devices. We’ve seen updates land for the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, and now, the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is starting to heat up.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update first started rolling out back in May. At the time, the flavor was Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the same update that Samsung rolled out to other top devices and an update that Samsung continues to roll out to top devices. Weeks after the roll out started, it stopped, leaving Galaxy S3 LTE users puzzled, wondering when Android 4.4 KitKat might roll out next.

Earlier this week, we got our answer. Yesterday, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update started rolling out in Korea, almost a year after the device was upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and about four months after the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update hit the United States. The Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is hitting the SHV-E210, a specific variant in Korea.

Today, we’ve learned that it’s not the only Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update that’s rolling out. According to SamMobile, the GT-i9305N Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is rolling out bringing enhancements and fixes to users in Nordic countries. The update should be available through an OTA update and through Samsung Kies software.

With this update, it’s now clear that Samsung intends to push the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to an assortment of devices in an assortment of different regions. Of course, this being a Samsung Android update roll out, the release is going to be unpredictable and it’s going to take a bit of time. Typically, Android releases of this magnitude take several months to complete.

Samsung’s focused its Android 4.4.4 KitKat update efforts on the U.S. so it’s possible that we’ll see U.S. carriers push out their own versions of the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update. T-Mobile USA has yet to upgrade its model to Android 4.4 and this could be a sign that it’s jumping up from Android 4.3 to Android 4.4.4.

In the past few weeks, we’ve seen T-Mobile push a Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update and a Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. We’ve also seen Sprint push a Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update of its own. These updates have been full of bug fixes and key enhancements that help to stabilize these devices ahead of Android L.

Android L is Google’s next major release and it’s expected to land sometime later this year, perhaps in October or sooner alongside a new Nexus 9 tablet from HTC and Google. Android L still isn’t confirmed for any Galaxy devices though rumors suggest that the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 will be first in line to Google’s brand new update.

The Galaxy S5 Android L update and Galaxy Note 4 Android L update are both expected to touch down in November or December though those dates are not guarantees. Android updates are highly dependent on the testing process and as we’ve seen in the past, there’s a very good chance that both of these updates get delayed beyond their target dates.

T-Mobile just released an update to my T999 LTE today. So , I hope it fixes the wifi problem. I’ve downloaded and am about to install. It is a 102 MB download but it does not specify the version. I’ll have to check after install. If you have a T-mobile Galaxy SIII LTE, then check for an update. Mine was set for automatic updates but it did not notify me.I just happened to check for an update.

It was nothing. 102 MB “software update” TMoBILE did this same thing a few months ago when kit kat was coming out to the S3. I got TMoBILE service in Nov of last year, paid 449 dollars for this phone that’s worth 250 now, I only get 2G service, HAVE to use wifi calling and pay 94.00 a month for 1 phone. All I want is kit kat without having to root this phone. I don’t get why T mobile can’t just update our phones. Sadly my friend has Virgin Mobile and paid HALF the price I did for my phone and has great service and KIT KAT for less than $50 a month. I wish Legere would stop spending so much time cutting down other service providers to get more customers and take care of the customers they ALREADY have.

Ugh, disgusted. Appears T-Mobile is the last, AGAIN, to roll out an update. Have been eagerly awaiting our 12/26 contract end date to switch carriers.

Their general customer and warranty service is ok. However, there were a few of things they couldn’t fix despite numerous requests over periods of 5 & 2 yr respectively. The final straw was an unforgivable warranty screw over.

We were loyal customers used to praise them to everyone who’d listen. Now after 10 yrs, we’re leaving them in the dust.
