Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Updates Finally Roll Out

Published

on

Several of the remaining Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates began rolling out today, a few months after they began rolling out and about a month after both updates completed their respective roll outs inside the United States.

In November, Samsung started pushing out the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. The updates, which replaced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and not Android 4.2, were important because they delivered Galaxy Gear support, Samsung Knox, a Galaxy Note 3 multi-tasking feature to the Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy S4 camera features to them both.

The update started to land for American carriers in November and in December, we saw the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates land for Verizon and the smaller, regional and pre-paid carriers. The completion of the American roll outs did not signal the end of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update roll outs, however.

As we have detailed numerous times, there are still some major Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates left, updates that, for whatever reason, still haven’t reached their destination. Fortunately, there aren’t many and today, a trio of updates began pushing out, bestowing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upon many Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners.

Earlier today, French carrier SFR announced that it began pushing out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S3 4G and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 4G. These updates had seen their software release dates delayed to January or February. The updates both come with an extensive list of features including Knox, Gear support and other improvements.

Joining the party is Australian carrier Vodafone who announced today that it has begun rolling out the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update after a long wait. It did not provide a change log to users though we imagine that the update is likely similar to SFR’s and the other Galaxy Note 2 updates that have rolled out in recent weeks.

These were three of the biggest omissions from the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean family so we have to imagine that these roll outs are now coming to a close, a few months after the roll outs began.

We do know of at least three major Android 4.3 updates that remain as Australian carrier Optus says that it should be rolling out both the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 updates next month with a Galaxy S4 4G Plus update hitting late next month or in March after a delay.

Up next for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 should be Android 4.4 KitKat, an update that recently rolled out to the Galaxy Note 3 and is rumored to be touching down for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in March. Samsung still hasn’t confirmed these updates though it may never do so.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 update rolled out without any warning and without a change log. Samsung’s other Android 4.4 KitKat updates may do the same.

So pretty much you aren’t going to show any journalistic integrity by mentioning all the problems with the update. Looks like the guys who hired you were trained by monkeys on Ritalin.

Search the Internet for Galaxy Note II battery life !
It was reduced to about 16 hours with a handset sitting on a desk! The reason: Google Services, eating 35% of the battery. Killing this application brings battery life back to prior to v. 4.3….
