Galaxy S4 32GB Release Date Confirmed

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S4 32GB, which has remained an elusive device, will be hitting the United States starting on May 10th when it will be arriving on AT&T’s 4G LTE network.

AT&T confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that the Samsung Galaxy S4 32GB, which was announced as coming soon for $250 on-contract, will be hitting shelves on May 10th for $250 on-contract. This means that AT&T will likely become the first U.S. carrier to offer a Galaxy S4 with anything other than 16GB of internal storage space, something that has come under intense scrutiny over the past few days.

The Galaxy S4 32GB hits AT&T later this month.

The Galaxy S4 32GB hits AT&T later this month.

Since launch, prospective and current Galaxy S4 owners have been complaining about the fact that the 16GB Galaxy S4 model only comes with about half of its internal storage space available, forcing users to buy a microSD card to expand their total amount of storage for things like photos, video and more. And as we’ve pointed out, the microSD card itself is worthless, meaning those who truly need the extra storage, really do need a 32GB or 64GB model.

Thus far, AT&T is the only carrier to confirm a 32GB Galaxy S4 with Sprint and T-Mobile remaining silent about the prospects, U.S. Cellular leaving the door open and Verizon telling us outright that it does not plan to carry a 32GB model.

This means that at the moment, AT&T is going to be the only option for those that need extra storage space on their Samsung Galaxy S4 in the United States. We imagine that it’s possible that other carriers will latch on to the idea thanks to demand but thus far, no one is showing their hand, other than AT&T.

The release of the 32GB Galaxy S4 comes just a few days after AT&T released the 16GB model which checks in with a price tag of $199.99, $50 cheaper than the Galaxy S4 32GB. Like the 32GB model, the 16GB also has a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, 13MP camera, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and all of the software features that Samsung has fastened aboard the device.

Uhmmm, the microSD card isn’t “worthless” for data storage. It is awesome for data storage. I am thrilled to have a microSD option. However it *is* worthless for apps on ICS. That is the issue. C’mon.

If Sprint doesn’t hurry up, I’m leaving for AT&T. Screw this crap, I’ve been a loyal Sprint customer for 7 years and this is how they screw me and every other customer over every single time a new hot phone comes out. I’m not in contract, so SEE YA if I can’t get the 32gb. Bad enough they’re charging 250 for the measly 9gb one!

Yay! I want an S4 but refuse to get the 16GB, and was afraid AT&T was going to drag its heels with no word for months to come

I agree about the expandable flash slot not being “worthless” – I’m quite happy it’s available and will load up a 64GB card in there as soon as I get my S4. I’ll fill that up with my music, photos and videos, and still have plenty of space for all the apps I want. Awesome.

Great, perfect timing for me; I was about to get the 16 GB which should be fine for me and my wife but I will get the 32 GB just in case and for an extra $50 is not that much.
I don’t agree that the micro SD card is useless because is not; you can store tons of pictures, movies and music and they are really cheap as well, $6 for 8 GB, $12 for 16 GB, $25 for 32 GB and around $50 for a 64 GB.
To call it useless is total BS. And that’s one of the great things of the Galaxy phones to be able to expand its memory if needed for cheap.

Whoever wrote this article needs to explain why the microSD slot is useless because that is pure BS. I am very happy to hear the 32 GB is finally coming out, but my cell provider (T-Mobile) hasn’t announced anything yet which ticks me off. I won’t waste my money on a 16 GB version.

You still have not named your source that stated Verizon won’t ever carry the 32GB model.

That’s right, Au2005. I keep checking back and he never does name that source. Why not Mr. Mills? If you want to get to use the word “confirmed” you ought to be willing to back it up.

it says in his blog that he is an iphone 5 fan, so of course he isn’t going to do anything but find flaws in a phone that surpassed and set the bar too high for apple to compete.
