5 Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date Details Emerge

on

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date in the United States is still a mystery though it continues to gain focus in the buildup to the confirmed Galaxy S6 release date and Galaxy S6 Edge release date on April 10th.

On March 1st, Samsung took the stage in Barcelona, Spain to announce the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, its two new flagship smartphones that will compete against the likes of the HTC One M9, iPhone 6 and LG G3. On stage, Samsung revealed many of the pertinent Galaxy S6 details including its specs, its accessories and its April 10th release date.

Starting April 10th, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will start hitting regions around the world. And while we’ve seen a few Galaxy S6 release dates all but confirmed, many of the US Galaxy S6 release date details remain unconfirmed in the weeks after the initial Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge announcement.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon, Boost, Cricket, and MetroPCS will all carry the Galaxy S6 while the five major carriers will offer both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. And with just a few weeks to go before the April 10th release date, these carriers remain relatively silent about their important Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 release date details.

Earlier this month, U.S. Cellular confirmed that it would start offering both models in April, specific release date unknown. More recently, Verizon announced that it would start taking Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 pre-orders on April 1st ahead of an unspecified release date. Even more recently, some new Galaxy S6 release details have emerged including one date that prospective Galaxy S6 buyers will want to circle on the calendar.

AT&T’s released new teaser videos for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, a sign that the carrier’s release dates are getting closer. AT&T recently the videos side-by-side with its HTC One M9 promo videos. The HTC One M9 is also set for an April 10th release.

The teasers don’t confirm a specific release date or pricing but they’re arrival means that the company is almost certainly prepping behind the scenes and at this point, an announcement shouldn’t be too far off, especially if intel for prospective Galaxy S6 buyers is dead on.

According to a number of Galaxy S6 buyers on Reddit, stores have begun telling them about a March 27th date that apparently could mark the start of Galaxy S6 pre-orders at Best Buy for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. It would be odd to see Best Buy start taking pre-orders for the Verizon Galaxy S6 ahead of Verizon so that date certainly isn’t set in stone.

A user claims that Best Buy will throw in a free accessory, a wireless charging pad, to those that pre-order. Retailers are known to offer incentives ahead of release though this deal remains unconfirmed.

March 27th will also reportedly represent the start of a hands-on Galaxy S6 experience inside US retail locations. This date isn’t confirmed but a number of different people are chiming in with that date, making it a date to circle on the calendar. Other countries, including Canada, have had the Galaxy S6 available in stores ahead of its April 10th release date so the United States wouldn’t be the first to offer an early peek to consumers.

Finally, users here also claim that at least some US carriers will release the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on April 10th after a pre-order period. Neither Samsung nor its carrier partners have confirmed a specific date though all signs are pointing to a fast release. And where there is a bunch of smoke, there is typically a bunch of fire.

While the release dates remain out of reach, it’s clear that we’re getting closer. With a Verizon Galaxy S6 pre-order date confirmed and with every single model now through the FCC, it should be only a matter of time before we get the concrete Galaxy S6 release date, price and pre-order dates for all US carriers nailed down.

Colors and storage remain a mystery in the United States though the Galaxy S6 price has been narrowed down. A T-Mobile ARV that we discovered shortly after launch hints at a $699 price tag for the Galaxy S6. It doesn’t necessarily confirm the off-contract price but it does mean that carrier pricing should fall somewhere between $600 and $700. On-contract prices remain missing in action.

The new Galaxy S6 comes with an assortment of upgrades including a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 577 ppi, Exynos 7 octo-core processor from Samsung, 32/64/128GB of storage with no microSD card slot, Android 5.0 Lollipop with a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, a 16MP camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, Cat.6 LTE, and a 2550 mAh (Galaxy S6) and 2600 mAh battery (S6 Edge).

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge will come with similar specifications though its will feature a unique curved display that bends down over the two sides of the phone. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Edge eschew plastic in favor of a bold new design that features a combination of metal and glass that also features Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.

With a Galaxy S6 release date fast approaching, look for US carriers to start confirming details soon.
