Support for the Galaxy S7 Will Continue

The Samsung Galaxy S7 might not get Android Pie, but that doesn't mean support for Galaxy S7 models will end.

Samsung and its carrier partners will continue to upgrade the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S7 Active with new bug fixes and security patches. And, if we're lucky, new features.

All three devices remain on Samsung’s list of devices getting monthly updates and they should remain there for the foreseeable future.

From there they'll move to Samsung's quarterly upgrade list. And once they're removed from that list, they might still get periodic upgrades.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are four years old and Samsung recently updated them with the January, 2019 security update.

So if you were worried that a lack of Android Pie would force you to upgrade to a newer device in 2019, don't fret. You can hold onto your phone for awhile longer.
