Gazelle.com: Easiest Way to Sell an Old iPhone

Published

on

logoiPhone custumers can   sell their old iPhones for enough cash to cover the early upgrade “tax” of $200, but who wants to compete with the throngs of others selling their iPhones this week? I just sold my wife’s old 16GB iPhone (EDGE) for $248.60 and it took me all of two minutes.

Gazelle, a company that buys used gadgets, is the lucky new owner of the iPhone that’s lived in my closet for the past year. While Gazelle doesn’t pay nearly enough for many devices, the company is offering good money for first-generation the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. To get started, all you have to do is tell Gazelle.com which device you want to sell, what condition it’s in and whether or not you have the original adapter and manuals.

Gazelle offered me $226 for the iPhone and an additional 10% bonus by entering the coupon code “iPhone” at checkout. A quick scan of eBay shows that this is a pretty generous offer. I entered in my address and the company is sending me a pre-paid shipping box to send in the old iPhone.picture-3

I may have been able to get more for the old iPhone if I sold it on eBay or Craigslist if I were lucky, but I don’t really have to time to deal with all the back and forth required.

What do they do with them all?

I assume they resell them somewhere, but at these prices the must be refurbishing them and/or jail-breaking them. Some of the prices they offer on other phones/notebooks don’t seem that great.

Check out Nextworth.com. Just as easy, but they give even more… I just sold an iPhone 16gb to them for $255.50.
