GBM InkShow: 3-Way Tablet PC Comparison

Published

on

In this GBM InkShow, I put the Fujitsu T5010, Fujitsu T2010, and HP TX2051 through their paces. Of course there’s no such thing as a winner in these types of comparisons since each device is dedicated to a separate market. The T5010 is the high-performance beast in this comparison. Running the latest Centrino 2 Duo Core processor and 2GB of the latest DDR3 RAM, the T5010 is simply blazing. The T5010 is the most expensive of the group, but if you’re looking for all out speed in a larger-than-12″ tablet, this is the only way to fly. Its weight is offset by its sheer performance and screen real estate. The T2010 is the ultra-mobile computer of the group, using an ULV processor and weighing in at 3.5 pounds. The T2010’s price is nestled between the T5010 on the high end and the TX2051 on the low end. Battery life and portability reigns supreme with the T2010. The TX2051 is an Entertainment PC with best-of-group speakers and the full array of media buttons. It’s more of a media-centric notebook with tablet functionality built-in, but its exceptional inking capabilities and its touch feature cannot be overlooked. However, its narrow viewing angles is problematic. It’s also the least expensive of the group. Keep in mind the TX2051 has been replaced with the TX2500.

Quick Specs:

Fujitsu T2010: Intel Centrino Core Duo 1.2GHz ULV Processor running 4GB DDR2 RAM 80GB 5400rpm

Fujitsu T5010: Intel Centrino 2 Core Duo 2.4GHz Processor running 2GB of DDR3 RAM 160GB 5400rpm

HP TX2051: AMD Turion 64 X2 2.4GHz Processor running 4GB of DDR2 RAM 250GB 5400rpm

    What, no comments yet?

While the video was a bit slow, it was really informative. Seeing them in action all together is fantastic for comparison purposes. Eg. the differents in how glossy/bright the screens are, viewing angles, weight balance, not to mention how details such as edge-recognition aren’t usually in written reviews.

So, good video – thanks for taking the time to make this. I’m hoping the heat on the tx is managable and that they’ve corrected the viewing angles in new models, as that’s likely what I will purchase :)

Yes, well done, as always Truc. In some way I haven’t seen this comparison before.
But dude, 30 minutes!! That’s too long, this could have been also done in 5 or 10 minutes. Brevity is the soul of wit.
That’s why I don’t like video reviews, because they can get boring very fast. Sadly that’s the case with every video review here on GBM. Boring!
It always looks like the people haven’t prepared themselfs and just start the recorder and then think about what they want to show the users. Make them faster, make them more interesting, more cuts, who wants to spend 30 minutes on looking how someone rotates the screen thousand times, …?
Sorry that I post this on your post, Truc, but this affects all reviews here on GBM.

    Hey from me also.
I am new to the tablet pc world and still looking to buy one.
Thanks for the review Truc.I found it also a bit too long but also very helpfull for me that i dont have the chance to see and test any of the tablets pcs here.
Truc as you are a T2010 user and cause i consider getting the T5010 or T2020 would like to ask you couple of questions and have your opinion to decide myself :)
How much of improvement will the T2020 be compared to T2010 and i mean it in the way of fixing annoying things and not just speed. For example will inking at the edges be better?

Leaving speed, long battery life, weight aside whats the difference between T5010 and T2020? Will be inking be the same good? screen also both good? which you think will be more of what a “tablet” should be?

do you know when you will be able to test a T2020?

thanks again and sorry if my questions are somehow stupid :)

Great Review, at least helped me a lot, however i still have one problem, HP’s Tx2500 and HP’s Tx2051 how big is the difference between the two HP, because i do 3D model so the HP Tx2500 and Fujitsu T5010 would be my choice, it just which one. Good Run Speed, and RAM VS Cheap and good GPU (and those very bad screen…)

Thank you again with this review
