GBM InkShow: HP tx2525 Entertainment PC

Published

on

image Over the past week or so, I have been taking a look at the HP tx2525 Entertainment PC.   I shot some video of a few features on the new machine that I thought would be of interest to someone wanting to purchase on of these Entertainment PCs.   The video starts off with a quick look at the tx2525 compared to the tx2051.   After the quick look, I test out the touch screen feel and inking functionality using Windows Journal.   Then, since it’s an Entertainment PC, I give a quick look at the HP utility on the machine that is a hub for all media.   I play a DVD then move to using my Slingbox to show how easily the application functions.   At the end of the video, I use the included remote control to navigate my way around Windows Media Center.

The video is:

BTW – Don’t mind the infomercial playing in the video… it wasn’t on when I started and I had to redo a section late at night :)

    Thanks for the overview Matt—very informative.

    Looked like you had an extended battery on the unit–any impressions on the overall battery life (with and without the extended battery, if that’s what it was? ;)

    Keep up the good work!

    Thank you Rob :) seems like there was something wrong with my version of Firefox cause the video didnt show up, but as soon as I tried IE it worked, I will update FF and see what happens. Maybe others have experienced the same problem so it would be great if you could provide a link just underneath the embedded video so there’s always an option.
    Great review Matt, its nice to see how others use this computer and to get more hands on experience and not just the technical overview.
    I also wanna thank gottabemobile for being second to none when it comes to mobile computing and tablets, keep it up :)

    Hello,
    Thanks for your Inkshow. But I don’t understand one point, why don’t you consider the tx2525 as a tablet PC ?

    @Dave – I didn’t run the battery tests with all the different batteries. Though, In my testing could tell there was a difference in time on the larger battery, maybe an hour or more at least. There was even the bigger battery included with the tx2051 – But it was so heavy I didnt’ leave it on that long…

    @Fredrik – Thanks!!

    @Joseph – It’s marketed as an “Entertainment PC”, not a “Tablet PC” – It’s 2 things… 1. Kind of a running joke since it’s not marketed as a ‘tablet pc’ when it really is :) 2. We like to talk about the items how the company, in this case HP, is talking about their products. If we mix them up, it will just add to confusion when different sites are speaking different lingo.
