Google Nexus 7 Pre-Orders Begin to Ship

Published

on

It looks like Google has begun shipping Nexus 7 pre-orders and the devices should start arriving soon on doorsteps.

Google has seemingly confirmed the information through its own automated help line (1-855-83-NEXUS (63987)), this according to Android Police and a couple of our own tipsters. The orders will start shipping out today and Google should ship out all pre-orders within the next three days.

That means that some who pre-ordered the Nexus won’t get the device until next week.

Google says that once a Nexus 7 order has shipped, confirmation will be delivered through email and a tracking number will accompany that confirmation. The company also says that its agents aren’t able to provide specific delivery dates but that its team is working fast to fulfill orders.

Nexus 7 pre-orders have started shipping from Google.

Here is the full message:

“We’re now shipping Nexus 7 pre-orders. The first wave of orders are going out today and all pre-orders are scheduled to ship within the next 3 business days. Once your order has shipped you will receive a confirmation email and tracking number. Though our agents are unable to provide a specific delivery date for individual pre-orders, please rest assured that our shipping team is working to fulfill all orders as quickly as possible.”

This confirmation comes shortly after GameStop confirmed to us that it would be fulfilling Nexus 7 pre-orders today. We’ve also heard from a lucky reader who has already gone down to his local GameStop to pick up his tablet thus confirming GameStop’s good news.

We haven’t heard from other retailers as of yet, retailers like Office Depot. The retailer did send an email out this morning with a link to the Nexus 7 on Office Depot’s website, but it’s only for pre-order. No word on when Office Depot will sell the Nexus 7 in stores.

It shouldn’t be long now though since Google has confirmed that Nexus 7 pre-orders are shipping out.

So thus ends the saga of the Nexus 7 release date and owners can get back to what really matters. The device itself.

The Nexus 7 features a 7-inch display that will feature 1280×800 resolution. It will feature a Tegra 3 quad-core processor from NVIDIA. It also features a front-facing camera for video chatting purposes, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth support, and up to 9 hours of HD video.

It’s available in two variants including a 8GB Nexus 7 for $199 and a larger 16GB Nexus 7 for $249.

It also has a hidden feature in that it has support for a magnetic smart cover, something that Google did not unveil at Google I/O or in the device’s listed specs.

Damn right its about time. The fact that people who ordered 3 days ago and paid $20+ less than those who pre-ordered DIRECTLY FROM GOOGLE ON THE DAY IT WAS ANNOUNCED are getting their devices before us is a joke. Google botched this launch big time.

Then again, when HASN’T Google botched a hardware launch…?

I ordered my 16g Nexus 7 on Jul 6. Today is July 24 and it still has not shipped. Amex at fist denied the paymanet, so I fixed it within 40 minutes of the initial charge, and Google assured me they would still ship it. As of today, Google cannot tell me when it will be shipped. FRUSTRATING with no answers!

Is anybody else caught in this credit card snafu??
