5 Reasons the GTA 5 Special Edition is Worth the Extra $20

Published

on

The GTA 5 release is less than two weeks away which means we will soon be able to play GTA 5 and GTA Online on the PS3 and Xbox 360, giving new life to consoles that are soon to be replaced by the PS4 and Xbox one.

Like most big game releases Rockstar offers a range of GTA 5 packages ranging from just the game all the way up to a GTA 5 Collector’s edition with a plethora of GTA 5 branded gear and special in-game bonus items like a garage stocked with high-end vehicles.

While not everyone can justify paying $150 for GTA 5, the GTA 5 Special Edition is worth the extra $20 Rockstar is asking, if only for the in-game unlockables.

The GTA 5 Special Edition includes a 21.5” x 26.75” map of Los Santos and the surrounding areas. At first glance, a collectible Blueprint GTA 5 maps seems like a dust collecting accessory, but Rockstar says there is a reason to get it and to use this map.

“Cryptic markings indicate locations for fast cash and other points of interest for the up-and-coming entrepreneur”

With the major focus on cash and spending money in GTA 5, any help in finding cash and other in-game items is worth getting.

Honestly, the only things I care about in this deal is the Blueprint map, hammer and .50 pistol. And for me, those three things are not even close to being worth $20 + $23 more for tax and shipping.

The extra cloths, I do not like because then I will feel those are the only cloths I will wear because I paid extra for them. The Special Ability only recharges faster and I don’t think I’ll be using it so much to the point where the extra 25% recharge speed really matters.

Hopefully Rockstar will release the weapons as DLC after the game comes out and I can put the other $35+ to something else.

Sounds like you really want the stuff but either you can’t afford the extra or have talked yourself out of buying it. I purchased the CE…I spend $150 in a couple hours on dumb sh*t and I have a little disposable income that I work hard for so why not treat myself…..not to mention the fact that R* has packed about 15 games worht of content into this one title so why not show my appreciation to them.

Im with Sneakn, this game is worth every penny. Regardless which version you buy. Rockstar deserves to be paid for such an awesome game and to keep it up with other up and coming coming titles for the next gen consoles.

I have the money to buy the collectors edition not just special but I don’t want things unlocked for me for free I want to earn them myself. I might buy the upgrade from psn if available later and once i’m deep into the game.

“but it includes four major in game features that gamers would otherwise need to work for or buy as an in game purchase or with in game currency”.

Oh no, I have to earn or buy them? Well that’s just crazy because I usually play games to spend more money than I have too on a game so I don’t have to play it to earn stuff. Playing a game to earn stuff really sucks. It doesn’t add to the interest or fun at all. I feel no satisfaction at all earning stuff. I have to spend money to get them? Well that sucks because at some point in a game like GTA 5 I have 50 billion dollars I don’t know what to do with because I have everything so spending a million of my 50 billion would really drain my in game money bank account.

This game is worth at least 200 dollars in just fun and replay value. Game of the century! I would be glad to spend the extra 20 bucks.

Honestly I wanted the collectors but I just don’t have the extra cash right now to be making that kind of purchase. As worth it as it is, the special edition will have to do, people making the complaint that the higher editions will make the game easier are just “how do you say” not rich in my opinion. It’s going to be optional whether or not you choose to Rely on the ability so the complaint is totally irrelevant. Also you keep your guns apparently and if that’s true in single player than buying 3 guns free isn’t that big a deal.

this will be my first time ever spending $150 on a game. I am a die hard gta fan. I can honestly say that rockstar do give us the bang for the buck. either way they don’t put out no mediocre games, especially when it comes to gta. just look at why they delayed the release. they went back just to add buying properties and adding a online mode just because of what gamers said they want. that’s something all developers should do instead of rushing to make a quick buck. and even though I spent 150 for the collectors I wouldn’t be mad at all if they released the extra content for dlc for everyone down the road. which im pretty sure they will. im just stoked they are firm believers in listening to their fans and dedicated to bringing the best they can to us. just imaging what the next gta gone be like. and what they can do with this one if they want. no current gen game has been so massive that it requires a mandatory install. that should be more then enough to let everyone know how much they want to please the fans.

Its the best game from series and the best one around on the current consoles. The $20 extra is cheap as f,. for the extra content. Rockstar deserves the cash for hard working on this awesome game. Pre-ordered the special ed one.

So essentially you’re spending extra cash for a cheat package – quicker regenerating, getting stuff for free etc. Why not play the game as designed to be played and earn the money in game. I doubt you would miss those tiny little perks. People wanting to give R* extra cash for next to nothing are deluded. Do you not think this multimillion dollar company earns enough? That said it will be an amazing game, just I don’t understand paying more than you need to..

Hi Josh – I am trying to pre-order the $20 extra edition, and it is back ordered everywhere. GameStop will still let me purchase the $149 one, but I have to buy for two teenagers — so out of my price range. Do you know anywhere that still has the $79.99 edition available? Would really appreciate a reply – THANKS!

Ill buy the regular version. I’m okay with earning my way to the top. If I really needed tips I’m sure I could look them up online anyway.

I got the spec.ed. not for the free crap, or what can be earned after the fact, but I am under the impression that the bonus outfits and tattoos are otherwise unavailable, not just a matter of in game cash…besides, the blimp, and the stunt trials are cool additional game content bonuses that in game cash don’t buy access to…I guess I could have misread or misunderstood the deal, but at the end of the day, for the amount of bang packed into the buck, they could have charged $80 for a standard release and only offered standard and collectors…I’d have still gladly paid $80…the LS hat would have been cool, but not for the cash…I paid “extra” for the additional game play not for the leg up on free crap…any edition of this game will surely be considered worth the price to those who paid it…I think that is one thing we can all agree on…I hope ;)

I have the blimp and I didn’t get the special edition. The other stuff you can no doubt get but I’ve not had the chance to really play on it much due to work!

Of course GTA 5 will shatter all previous sales records. It’s a game 5 years in the making with millions of dollars spent on development. For those wondering what new vehicles are in GTA 5, here is a big list of all vehicles. The tank is a popular new addition.

This is simply put the most well devloped game in existence, arguably the greatest game available currently, so why not experience it for its full value? I myself have been waiting since 2009 for this and now it’s here I want to enjoy it to the fullest!
