Hantech Siso Tablo Reviewed

thumb_ctia-2009-show-stopper-pen-house-2-480x319 We’ve reported on a similar product in the Hanwha Duo, but now we have a review of a working unit of the Hantech Siso Tablo from the folks over at Slashgear. The Siso Tablo works on the same premise as the Duo with a transceiver unit that sits either atop your laptop a la webcam or above a sheet of paper or notebook (like the clasp on a clipboard) and receives proximity and input information coming from the pen. The device then translates motion and input into text on screen. It’s a great introduction, I think, to the power and benefits of digital note-taking. According to reviewer Steven Grady, the Tablo is great for graphic artists, even saying that the Tablo works as well, if not better, than traditional tablets. The Tablo comes with an option to add a ballpoint pen tip so you can have a paper copy of your digitized notes. This $100 gizmo is a great option for people who already have notebooks and cannot justify the expense of a convertible tablet.

    I want one!
Says it will callibrate 7″-15.4″ screens.

Have an older non-tablet laptop with a conventional screen, would be great to convert it to tablet PC format as it is smaller than my tablet PC.

Video of one working is cool

Where do you buy in the US.
Their site lists 2 US retailers:

    UnicSen Inc.
    California, Fremont, USA

    Techno Ink USA
    Los Angeles, CA , USA

    Anybody deal with them?

I asked a friend of mine who saw an early model about six months ago what he thought. His comments were that the inking was rough at best–hard to calibrate and easily lost calibration whenever it was moved. Great for drawing, not for writing. It looks cool, though.

Techno Inks account has been suspended, doesn’t sound
    to legit.

Tha leaves Unisen in Gremont Ca. Maybe somebody lives in Fremont knows if this is a real company.?

The videos on their site talked about a screent protector
that you could get. But, in the Slashdot unboxing, they didn’t
mention a protector as being included.

Their site seems to be kinda whacky English, so some things
    don’t make sense.

Unicsen is one of Hantech’s vendor in US.
SO you should be able to receive items from them.
