How to Check Your Upgrade Eligibility for iPhone 4S

Published

on

If you want to know when you are able to purchase the new iPhone 4S for the affordable $199 starting price with a two year contract.

The iPhone 4S is a new iPhone from Apple that looks similar to the iPhone 4, but has many updated internals that include a faster processor and better camera. Apple is also betting on the Siri assistant app to sell the iPhone 4S. This software allows you to use the iPhone as a personal assistant.

In order to get the iPhone 4S at $199, you need to be eligible to sign a new two year contract with your carrier, or be willing to switch to a new carrier, such as Sprint.

There are a number of ways to check your iPhone 4S upgrade eligibility for Verizon, Sprint and AT&T.

Apple.com

You can check your iPhone 4S upgrade eligibility on Apple, if you have service with AT&T or Verizon. You will need to know your mobile number, billing area code, last four of the social security number for the primary account holder and if you have one, an account password.

Check Upgrade Eligibility

Verizon

If you have a Verizon account, you can login to your online account to see when you can upgrade to a new phone at the cheaper contract price.

If you don’t have your online account set up, you can call *611 from your Verizon phone and you will be connected to customer support. If you aren’t eligible now, you can ask for an early upgrade, but word is that carriers are stingy with these.

AT&T Wireless

If you don’t want to enter your information on Apple.com, you can also look up your eligibility on AT&T Wireless’ website.

AT&T should have an app in the Apple app store soon that allows you to check your eligibility with a few taps, but it has not landed yet.

If all else fails, dial 611 from your AT&T phone and ask when you will be able to upgrade to an iPhone 4S at promotional pricing.

Sprint

If you are a current Sprint subscriber, and you want to know if you can purchase the Sprint iPhone 4S on October 14th, you can log in to your Sprint account to check eligibility, or you can call customer support at 1-800-827-1180.

If you are not eligible for an upgrade, you should be able to purchase the iPhone 4S off contract starting at $649.

You can also dial *NEW# (*639#) from your current AT&T device to receive a text message with information about your upgrade eligibility.
