Published

on

The Battlefield 5 beta is live, but downloading it can be a bit tricky. In this guide we’re going to show you how to download the beta quickly so that you can get a good feel for the game ahead of its release date this November.

EA DICE is testing the Battlefield 5 for bugs and performance issues ahead of its official release and those who pre-ordered a copy of the game can jump into Grand Operations, Conquest and Tides of War right now via the Open Battlefield 5 beta.

The beta is currently limited to those who pre-order and EA Origin and EA Access subscribers, but that will change in the near future.

EA DICE plans to open the beta up to everyone on September 6th with testing stretching until September 11th at 22:00 PM BST. There’s a chance the company will extended the beta due to the release date delay, but it hasn’t communicated those details just yet.

The Battlefield 5 beta is available for three platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC) and it’s a substantial download for all three.

PlayStation 4 owners are looking at a 14.8+ GB download while Xbox One owners are looking at a 10.9+ GB download. Those of you playing on Windows PC can expect a 12.4+ GB download.

How to Download the Battlefield 5 Beta from a PC or Mac

If you’re working late this week and won’t be able to find time to turn your console on to get the beta, you can still download it from your PC or Mac and have it ready for when you find time to play.

Xbox One Battlefield 5 Beta

First, you need to make sure your Xbox One has an internet connection and that you’re using the Always Connected power option. Always Connected means your Xbox One goes to sleep instead of shutting off completely.

When you’re ready, you’ll want to follow these instructions:

  • Go to Xbox.com in your web browser.
  • Click on the Sign In link in the top-right corner. In order for this to work you must use the same Microsoft Account that’s connected to your Xbox Live Gamertag and Xbox One.
  • Type Battlefield V into the search box in the top-right corner of your screen.
  • If you pre-ordered, you’ll need to get the Early Enlister Offer.
  • Once you redeem your code you’ll need to get “Battlefield 5 Early Access” and download the “Battlefield 5 Open Beta” client. If you’ve got access it will say “Install on my devices” or “Get” in a blue box.
  • Click that button to install.

If your Xbox One doesn’t download new games and game updates when it’s sleeping, you’ll need to manually download these from the My Games and Apps on your Xbox One when you get home.

PS4 Battlefield 5 Beta

Here’s how to download the PS4 Battlefield 5 beta from a PC or Mac.

  • Go to Store.PlayStation.com in your browser.
  • Click Sign In in the top-right corner of the screen. For this to work, this account needs to match the account you use on your PlayStation 4.
  • Use the search box to look for Battlefield V.
  • If you pre-ordered you’ll need to get the “Early Enlister Offer“.
  • Once you’ve got that, you’ll need to download the “Battlefield 5 Open Beta“.
  • Click on Add to Cart and complete the checkout process.

Once you get home you’ll want to look for the Battlefield 5 in your collection of games. If it’s not there, you’ll need to manually start it and wait for the download to finish.

2 Reasons to Buy Battlefield 5 & 6 Reasons to Wait

Buy If You Want a Game to Play for the Next Year

Buy If You Want a Game to Play for the Next Year

If you're looking to get a huge bang for your buck, think about investing in Battlefield 5.

Unlike Call of Duty and other first person shooters, Battlefield 5 comes with a single player campaign dubbed War Stories. Each War Story takes about an hour or so to complete, but they're actually quite fun.

Of course, there's also the game's extensive multiplayer component which puts you on the ground with up to 63 other players on the battlegrounds of World War 2.

As time goes on, EA DICE will deliver new maps, new weapons, new skins, and brand new game modes. And unlike some games (Battlefield 1 and COD Black Ops 4, for instance) you won't have to pay for any of the DLC content.

Battlefield 5's DLC is dubbed Tides of War and players can expect four expansions during the game's first year out on shelves. You can expect lots of changes to both the single player and multiplayer modes as support for Battlefield 5 will go on for several years.

So if you're looking to buy a game that doesn't immediately end up in your drawer or CD case, Battlefield 5 is worth a look.

It's a solid investment at $60 and it will provide you with hundreds of hours of entertainment in the months, and perhaps years, to come.
