How to Find and Delete Videos from the iPhone Camera Roll

Published

on

One of the biggest selling points of the iPhone is the camera. Over the years the iPhone has led the pack for taking great pictures and high quality video.

While this is a great thing for consumers, it also becomes two-edged sword when it comes to storing all of this media. While photos take up a decent amount of space, the worse culprit is video.

A five minute video on the iPhone 5 is approximately 900MB, which takes up a lot of storage space for someone with a 16GB iPhone. To eliminate this problem it is best to delete unnecessary videos. Be sure to first backup your iPhone to iTunes before starting this process.

Here is the simplest way to find and delete videos off the iPhone.

Tap Camera.

Tap CameraNext tap the lower left for the Camera Roll.

Tap Bottom Left

Once the Camera Roll is selected Choose Camera Roll in the Top Left to see all items.

Tap Camera roll

Choose the Videos tab.

Choose Video Tab

Select Share along the bottom center.

Select Share

Choose the Videos that will be deleted.

Choose Videos

Once all of the videos to delete have been chosen select Delete.

Delete Selected Videos

To confirm that you really want to delete them, tap Delete Selected Videos.

Once that is done the videos that were selected will be deleted from the iPhone. While this process can be done in the Photos app as well, this process is easier due to the dedicated tab for just videos.

Another thing users can do if they are running low on storage is to buy a higher capacity iPhone. While most users can manage with a 16GB model, if you plan on taking a lot of pictures and video bumping up to a 32GB or a 64GB may be a good idea.

If paying the extra $100-200 is not the solution, it is also possible to backup the iPhone to a computer and transfer the media to applications such as iPhoto or Aperture. By backing up the media to these programs the user can then remove the original files from the iPhone, and in turn have space left on their device.

First. This was actually very helpful. Didn’t want to spend too much time on this, and deleting through the PC wasn’t working (maybe Apple locks files from being edited via windows).

If you have lots of videos on your phone, then you may use a professional app – Apowersoft Phone Manager to manage your videos and other files. You can search it on Chrome.
