This guide explains how to reset a frozen OnePlus 6. If your phone is unresponsive or acting up we’re here to help. While the latest OnePlus phone is fast and powerful, issues do occasionally surface. Follow our steps instead of calling customer support for help.

Unlike its earlier phones, the OnePlus 6 has a premium metal and glass design. And while it looks great, it means you can’t remove the battery to reset a frozen or unresponsive phone.

A quick reboot fixes almost any minor OnePlus problem, but that isn’t always an option. Sometimes the phone stops responding completely. Plus, this is an issue you might face if you install the Android P beta. So, if your phone is frozen try the combination below to get it working right in a matter of seconds.

How to Reboot a Frozen OnePlus 6

As a reminder, this will not erase any data or content on your phone.

  1. Press and hold down the Power button on the right side of the phone
  2. Hold the Power button down for 10-12 seconds, or until the phone vibrates and restarts
  3. If the phone turns off let go then press power again for 1-2 seconds to restart the phone

Those paying attention during setup may have seen the tip for how to reboot or reset a frozen OnePlus 6. It appears during the first setup of your phone in bold text.

“If your device is unresponsive, press and hold down the Power key for 10 seconds to restart it.”

After holding down the power key for around 10 seconds the phone will automatically turn off, power cycle, and reboot back to normal operation. It’s worth noting that this is also how you reboot the phone regularly, but you only hold down for one second, then select “power off” or “reboot” from the menu of options.

If your OnePlus 6 is completely unresponsive you can’t select any of the on-screen options. So, just keep holding down the power button for over 10 seconds and it will do a hard reboot. This should also resolve almost all minor problems.

In some situations, your phone will reboot into a maintenance or safe mode. Use the volume up/down keys to navigate through the list of options, then tap on power to select them. Scroll down to reboot, and hit the power button to select it and restart your OnePlus 6.

Again, this doesn’t erase any information or data and simply forces the phone to restart. Perfect for those experiencing problems or an unresponsive screen. Drop us a comment below if you have any other questions, concerns, or problems.

Unfortunately I tried all these steps but my phone just failed to reboot. I contacted customer care who gave me the exact same instructions but to no avail. My phone has to go for repairs… after 5 months from purchase. This is my first One Plus phone, and I have a feeling it will be my last.

Must have completely died, instead of just froze. Sorry to hear
