Vimeo also supports 4K video shot on the iPhone 6s, but multiple attempts to share upload through the Vimeo app and through the share button failed.

After experimenting, we found the simplest solution is to AirDrop the video from your iPhone to a Mac and then upload to YouTube from your computer.

You can still edit the 4K video on iMovie on your iPhone 6s in 4K, before you share it to your computer if your laptop or desktop isn’t powerful enough to edit the video.

When you are on the video in your Photos app, tap on share then tap on your Mac in the AirDrop menu. This sends the full 4K video file to your Mac and it happens very fast, because it is a direct connection.

Once the video is on your computer, you can choose to upload it to YouTube from there. After the video is uploaded users can watch it in 4K on YouTube. They may need to use the gear icon on the video to choose 4K.

The iPhone 6s was in our pocket and we saw a great opportunity to use the new 4K camera that wouldn’t be possible if we had to run back in the house and grab a larger 4K video camera.

You can share the YouTube video on Facebook, but you cannot directly upload a 4K video to Facebook at this time as the service doesn’t support it.

We hope that YouTube apps and Vimeo apps will soon upgrade to allow iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners to directly upload 4K video. We’re also looking for other apps to upload 4K video from the iPhone and will update with solutions that don’t require a computer.

The problem with this suggestion is that it assumes that Airdrop works for you. If you have a look on the Apple support forums there are literally hundreds of people who can’t get Airdrop to work for them, or who have an older Mac which doesn’t have Airdrop. There should be an easy alternative to Airdrop.
