How to Use Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Notifications

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge delivers notifications on the right or left edge for more than just calls and texts. We’ll show you how to use Galaxy S6 Edge notifications for Gmail, Facebook and almost any other app on your phone. Plus, we’ll show you how to get sports scores, check the weather and see the clock on edge and how to download new Galaxy S6 Edge notification options.

Samsung includes two curved edges on the Galaxy S6 Edge display that look very nice, but can also show you information when you want to see alerts and other information that you missed.

You’ll need to configure the Galaxy S6 Edge notifications and you need to turn them on when you want to see them. Unfortunately they will not light up automatically when you get a new notification. There are some limits, but with this guide you should be able to see the notifications for almost any Android app on the edge of your Galaxy S6 Edge.

How to Use Galaxy S6 Edge Notifications

The short three-minute video above shows you how to use the Galaxy S6 Edge, edge notifications so that you can add new information to the edge of the Galaxy S6 Edge and how to activate it.

By default you should already have some information turned on for the Galaxy S6 edge notifications. To access them swipe up and down the right edge of the Galaxy S6 Edge screen quickly while the screen is off. This turns on the notifications on the edge fo the screen. The phone rotates them so you can see them depending on how you hold the Edge. You can change this to the left screen in the settings.

Now that you know how to use the Galaxy S6 Edge notifications you need to learn how you can customize the notifications on your device.

Go to Settings -> Edge Screen -> Information Stream. This is where you can choose what shows up on the edge of your Galaxy S6 Edge and how long it stays there. Turn on Information Stream if it isn’t already on by toggling the option at the top of the screen.

Tap on Manage Feeds to pick the feeds that you want to show. You can tap the check mark at the top to turn it on. tap the settings icon at the bottom to choose the apps or information that it displays.

On the one shown at the far left above you can tap on Settings to choose the apps you display in the Galaxy S6 Edge notifications.

Tap on Re-order at the top of the screen to change the order. At the far right is an option to Download feeds. Tap on this to download new options like an RSS feed and a caller ID feed.

On the main Information Stream page you can choose how long to show the notifications on the side of the Galaxy S6 Edge. On the main Edge screen options you can choose which side of the phone to use for the Edge notifications. On this screen you can also turn on Night Clock. If you turn this on a small clock will show on the edge during the hours you choose. This is not as bright as the normal screen or Edge notifications so you can use it as a nightstand clock without filling the room with light.

    I have an iPhone 6s Plus and dislike Samsung. They truly have internal problems the wish not to fix because “control” is in South Korea.
