HP 2710p Tablet for $699
Woot.com is selling the HP 2710p tablet for $699 today only. As you may know, the 2710p is the predecessor to the 2730p, which is the current model. The 2710p on sale today comes with 2GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive and 1.8GHz processor. This version ships with Windows XP Tablet edition and includes the Vista Business install disc. Best of all, the 2710p comes with a three-year warranty.
One of my favorite things about Woot.com is that they always manage to make a handful of sarcastic comments in their lengthy product descriptions. Once the deal’s off their home page you can find them archived in their blog. From the 2710p’s description:
So I’d be left perplexed about the whole Tablet scene. To me, they were like the fondue pots of the personal electronics world: I knew people were using them out there somewhere, but I never saw it happen.
The 2710p may not be the most current tablet in HP’s stable, but it’s certainly worth $699. Woot.com charges $5 for shipping anywhere in the U.S.

Sorry I missed that Kenrick. Looks like you’re right…
Of course – if you live in Alaska you can always use a few of those oil dollars to pay for extra shipping charges.
For those who live in Hawaii….well there’s a price for getting to live in paradise ;-)

Man, there’s something strange in it.. Isn’t it that 2710p is only (normally) available with 1.2 or 1.33 ULV processors? And Woot says it has 1.8 GHz processor…

You’re absolutely right. The 2710p is only available with Intel ULV processors, the 2730p has more options, including a 1.6GHz and 1.83GHz LV processors.

I guess the one should check this out before actually paying. Maybe someone can force them to squeeze 1.8 GHz in 2710p to keep their word ;)

I just ordered one. I checked out the HP product number and it does show the L7700 instead of the U7700 which my old 2710p has. The L7700 does have a 1.80ghz processor as indicated on the Intel website. HP must have added this one late in the game I guess. I also checked this part number on buy.com and pcconnection.com and they both state that it has a 1.80ghz processor.
