HTC Actively Working on ICS Updates as ThunderBolt & Incredible 2 Deadline Nears

Published

on

With less than 24 hours to go in its self-imposed HTC ThunderBolt and Droid Incredible 2 Ice Cream Sandwich deadlines, HTC is offering up zero answers for ThunderBolt and Droid Incredible 2 owners inquiring about the updates and their timing.

Yesterday, we saw HTC dodging questions about the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update and today, a day that sits even closer to the deadline, the company is doing more of the same.

On its Facebook page, HTC is doing very little to assure owners that the Droid Incredible 2 ICS update and the HTC ThunderBolt ICS update won’t miss their deadlines, something that we theorized could happen yesterday.

HTC says it’s still working with Verizon on ICS updates.

Instead, HTC says that it again does not have any news to share with owners of these two devices. It’s also saying that it’s still actively working with Verizon on Ice Cream Sandwich updates.

Because there are no other Verizon HTC phones listed on the ICS upgrade page, we assume this means that HTC is still working with Verizon on the Droid Incredible 2 and HTC ThunderBolt updates. Unfortunately, HTC offered no elaboration and It’s unclear as to what that means for owners.

Thus far, there are no signs that the updates are going to roll out today. We have not heard about any owners receiving the updates and we haven’t seen Verizon post any changelogs on its website for either the ThunderBolt’s update or the Droid Incredible 2’s.

It’s certainly possible that Verizon and HTC will work some magic and roll out both updates today but at this point, owners shouldn’t be holding their breath.

Both updates were originally promised by the end of August but now that we’re on the last day of the roll out window without any sign of the updates, it’s looking like September could be the roll out month.

At the very least, we hope that HTC issues a statement (or an apology) giving owners some concrete specifics as to when they can expect both updates.

Who cares. November can’t come fast enough. They can “apologize” all they want. Never again HTC. Never again. Side note, if you want to laugh, go check out their usa fb page. They’re getting verbally abused.

I blame VZW mostly… I may have a soft-spot for HTC, buy at least they acknowledge customers, even if they don’t say anything. VZW won’t even give us that…

I can understand disdain for vzw. But what it comes down to is, they’re not making the update. Just approving it. It’s htcs baby. And theyre failing.

I see today when I Google HTC Thunderbolt Update that the Verizon webpage comes up and says an update is coming soon. Yes I think the Thunderbolt should get a software face-lift. I think both or either company should not have given a date for the update to occur and I believe not giving a date now is in their best interest because if they tell us another date, stakes, shovels, fire will be brought to thier feet on breaking another promise. As for the quality of the phone, I must’ve gotten a bizzaro-lemon phone because except for a few minor issues, which seemed to have been worked out through small updates, I have been very pleased with my phone which I’ve had since April 2011. I would like to get some electronic Beano or Pepto so I can get some bloating out of it but have never through to trade or get rid of because of performance.

I need ICS to suck more life out of the dinc2. I can’t justify buying an underpowered dinc 4g so I need the dinc2 to last me until they deliver their new VZW phone (who knows when that will be …). Why did VZW get crap when the other carriers got a decent handset???

I’ve always wondered why they can lock people into a 2 year contract and then not even support the users phone for that length of time. I still have another 8 months on my contract and VZW has told me in a pleasant way numerous times that I’m SOL with any TBolt issues and that they will allow me to upgrade at a slightly lower rate than full price for my next phone.

Once my contract is up, I’m switching to Samsung s3 or nexus gsm. Tired of failure. This is my 3rd and final HTC product. Will also be having company change from HTC as well.

It’s absolute va that the incredible s has ICS, but neither of these phones do. I may too be leaving HTC.

Yeah if the update was successful on the Inc S why is it taking so long for the Inc. 2? It’s gotta be VZW that is causing the delay here, IMO.
