The HTC EVO 4G LTE is coming to Sprint on May 18 for $199.99.

Pre-orders for the HTC EVO 4G LTE started on May 7, but now we know when users can finally get their hands on the device.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is very similar to AT&T’s HTC One X which launched on May 6. Both phones feature a 4.7-inch 720p display with a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU. They run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC’s Sense 4 skin laid over it. The main difference between the two phones is the design.

While the HTC One X has a matte polycarbonate unibody design, the HTC EVO 4G LTE uses both a matte and glossy black anodized aluminum shell. Between the matte and glossy areas on the back of the phone is a kickstand, which the One X lacks. HTC also equipped the EVO 4G LTE with a physical camera button which isn’t on AT&T’s One X.

The physical camera button will be a great addition to HTC’s Image Sense technology. Both the HTC EVO 4G LTE and One X have an 8MP rear-facing camera that can take1080p video and photos at the same time. The camera on both phones takes photo very quickly, but the camera button on the EVO 4G LTE should make taking photos just a bit easier.

Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G LTE also features a larger 2,000 mAh battery which should last just a bit longer than the One X’s 1,800 mAh battery.

The only downside to the HTC EVO 4G LTE is that Sprint’s 4G LTE network doesn’t actually exist yet. For now users have to deal with Sprint’s 3G. When Sprint’s Network Vision starts rolling out, however, EVO 4G LTE users will get faster downloads and HD Voice, as long as they live in a Sprint 4G LTE city.
