HTC EVO 4G LTE Owners Reporting Display Issues

Published

on

It seems at least some HTC EVO 4G LTE owners are seeing light bleed issues on their new Sprint 4G LTE smartphone.

According to Android Police, users over at XDA have posted about light bleed issues that have been occurring in and around the device’s home button.

The bleed occurs when the device’s display is dark but the home button is lit up. That issue can be seen in the photo below that clearly shows the issue at hand. Keep in mind that the photo was taken in a dark room which means that the light bleed probably won’t be as noticeable in normal conditions.

It’s unclear how widespread this issue is at the moment. It’s likely limited to a few rotten eggs but it’s definitely worth checking up on for those that just purchased a new EVO 4G LTE. It appears that both Best Buy and Sprint will replace the device within the 30 day return period if the issue is noticed.

No bleeding on our device.

For the record, we did not experience any light bleeding on our review unit so again, this is probably only going to seen on a small percentage of EVO 4G LTE’s.

Sprint and Best Buy have yet to respond about the issue.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint’s third 4G LTE smartphone for its network that has yet to go live. Sprint has said that the software would be rolling out sometime during the middle of the year but it has yet to confirm a concrete date.

The device was originally supposed to launch on May 18th, however, due to a patent dispute with Apple, Sprint and HTC launched the phone earlier this month on June 2nd.

Just activated my new EVO-LTE…and it died on my FIRST phone call..died, meaning that it dropped the call and went into a re-boot of the OS…after recovery of the re-boot (about 45 seconds), the EVO
generated an “error report” and asked me on a dialog box if I would
“submit” the report to HTC for analysis.

Pretty lame and very disappointing…do I cut my losses and get out
of it now…or wait and see if this was a “one-off” shakedown cruise
    type of event?

I also encountered the same issue. I had just opened navigation and the phone froze for a bit then shutdown. When i restarted it i got the same error message also. Asking to send a report i pushed ok. All has been well now for the last 3 weeks, no problems or issues. Till yesterday i was heading out of town and went to fire up navigation and plug my phone into the car charger, and instantly froze and died. Now nothing happens at all. Back to the sprint store. I am not certain that it was a issue with the phone as the car charger is roughed up a bit and it happened as soon as the charger hit the port.

So i try to send a photo to a friend and it doesnt work. I click the photo i want and it goes right back to the album. WTH?? i attemted several times with a couple differnt friends and still NOTHING. ALSO, i’ve only had this phone for TWO days and already im now starting to get a delay when i click the HOME button. REALLY?? I have barely ANYthing downloaded so i know im not being bogged down. This is starting to suck. Maybe the iPhone WOULD HAVE been a better choice.

I have an HTC Evo 4G LTE and when I first got it all was well. Than about 2 months later the screen would flash when I turned it on and would not allow me to do anything. I had to open the settings menu and than back out of it to get the screen to stay on. It also wont allow me to send a text or an email. The keyboard will not come up. I tool it to the Sprint store and they did a soft reset on my phone and it worked for about 2 weeks and now I am back to the phone not working again. I tried uninstalling all my apps to see if one of them was causing the problem, but it is not the apps. This is sad due to the first EVO being a super great phone. I never had a problem with it.
