HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat Update Release Set

Published

on

The HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat release is set as details continue to emerge not only from trusted insiders but from HTC itself.

Back in early November, HTC came right out of the gates with a handful of HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat promises. The company promised that it would release the HTC One Google Play Edition Android 4.4 KitKat update within 15 days of the announcement, something that it accomplished when it released the code to Google for release. It promised the HTC One Developer Edition update within 30 days and it delivered. And it also promised the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update for the United States, and other regions, within 90 days putting a target release in January.

The company has continually said that it’s on track for that time frame and that even the Verizon HTC One Android, which received Android 4.3 only yesterday, is still on track to get Android 4.4 KitKat in January.

In the days since the announcement, we’ve seen details start to emerge, filling in the blanks for HTC One users interested in upgrading from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Sense 5. Recently, we saw HTC confirm that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update in the U.S. would bring the new Sense 5.5, a UI that offers enhancements to Zoe and BlinkFeed. More recently, we’ve seen the exact version of Android 4.4 confirmed.

Yesterday, we saw HTC’s Director of Product Management, Mo Versi, confirm that the HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States would bring the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Today, noted HTC leakster LLabTooFeR claims that Europe will likely see the same. He also thinks the HTC One Developer Edition will get Android 4.4.2 as well.

While we don’t expect Android 4.4.2 KitKat to add anything significant from a feature standpoint, it’s likely to be a more stable version of the software, meaning, more bug free than the previous two versions.

What this means is that HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat release is set. It will be Android 4.4.2 KitKat that rolls out in the next few weeks and in the United States, the update will bring the new Sense 5.5. The company also continues to insist on a roll out in January.

LlabTooFeR claims that the company is currently testing Android 4.4.2 KitKat with a new version of Sense, a new version that will likely arrive with HTC’s rumored HTC M8 flagship that’s set to arrive in the early part of next year. That update is likely going to be next for HTC One owners.

Yet another Adam Mills article that could be summed up with one sentence, but instead regurgitates months-old news as if it’s actually news.
