HTC One Release: Additional Delays & Shortages Into Late April
The HTC One release is facing another delay which cause shortages throughout April and ultimately could push the HTC One release date up against the Samsung Galaxy S4 release.
Despite HTC’s statement that the HTC One release will take place in UK, Germany and Taiwan this week, multiple sources are pointing to an additional delay which will push the International HTC One release date back into April and cause shortages in multiple regions.
These new details focus on the global HTC One release date, but there is a chance that the HTC One U.S. release date will face an additional delay and miss the mid-April target we reported earlier this month.
Details about this new possible HTC One delay come on the heels of news that HTC One pre-orders in the U.S. hit “several hundred thousand” units.
The news comes from Focus Taiwan and includes several notable quotes from Jason Mackenzie, HTC president for global sales and marketing. Mackenzie talked up demand for the HTC One, calling it the “strongest initial response for any smartphone we’ve ever designed,” and then apologizing for the delay.
“We apologize for this delay and are confident that you will find that the new HTC One will be well worth the wait.”
According to this report, HTC is arranging the U.S. HTC One release date with carriers and retail partners at this time.
According to Negri Electronics, a phone reseller, “HTC is expected to delay the HTC One into late April.” This is for the overall launch, not just the U.S. launch. Negri Electronics claims that some sources will carry the HTC One in Germany and Taiwan in early April, but that the overall situation is “unfortunate”
Negri Electronics is attempting to secure stock from these regions, but is also encouraging customers to switch to the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Samsung Galaxy S4 release in these regions is pegged at April 25th or 26th.
Negri did not offer any specific details on the U.S. HTC One release, but expects it could follow suit.
@Josh_Smith @NegriBlog @RyanNegri Yes. We have no information on US release. We assume it will follow suit and be delayed as well.

Clove.co.uk, another reseller where Gotta Be Mobile ordered an HTC One from posted an update this morning pushing back the HTC One release date. Clove is able to offer up more details, with smaller push backs in stock. While the company does not have an official count of stock it will receive, shortages are predicted through the end of April.
- Silver HTC One – First stock delayed until next week, 3rd April.
- Black HTC One – First stock delayed until 10th April.
- Orders placed on or after 26th March are likely to ship late April.
HTC confirmed that the HTC One’s ultrapixel camera is to blame for the delays, as component manufacturers are building the camera specifically for HTC and production could not ramp up quickly.
We’ve reached out to HTC for comment on when the HTC One release will hit in the U.S. and when shoppers can expect shortages to ease in international markets.

These delays are going to hit HTC really bad.Seeing the availability plan in HTC statement I’m really very depressed. Galaxy S4 will be out by then and… you know the rest.

They should call the HTC One the HTC “Done” as all of these delays are going to drive people to Samsung. I’ll be surprised if they are even around in the next couple of years. Get your act together guys!!!

I hate this too, but Samsung always has the same problem. Remember the S3? It was delayed nearly 3 months in the United States.
