While several other HTC devices have seen their Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 updates confirmed by an insider, the HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 updates remain unconfirmed and up in the air.

Shortly after HTC confirmed the HTC One, its latest and greatest flagship, the company also confirmed that at least some of the new Sense 5 would be hitting its older devices including the HTC One X, One X+, HTC Butterfly and the mid-range HTC One S. Since then, HTC has remained silent on release details. However, @LLabTooFeR, an HTC developer and leakster, has been leaking information regularly.

The HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update remains unconfirmed. Even unofficially.

The HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update remains unconfirmed. Even unofficially.

So far, he has unofficially confirmed Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Sense 5 updates, which he says will be coming together, for a number of HTC devices including the HTC One X+, HTC One X, HTC Butterfly, Droid DNA, Droid Incredible 4G LTE, and HTC EVO 4G LTE. He isn’t quite sure when these devices will get their update, but it will likely be after the HTC One gets upgraded to Android 4.2.

And while he is sure these devices will be getting the software update in the future, remember he has been accurate with his update information in the past, he still isn’t sure if the HTC One S will be getting the upgrade to Android 4.2 and Sense 5.

He’s been asked numerous times by inquiring minds about the possibility of a HTC One S Android 4.2 and Sense 5 upgrade and he continues to say that he still can’t confirm whether or not the device will get the update.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily rule anything out. HTC has said that Sense 5 features will be coming to the global One S. However, we have seen HTC renege on software promises in the past and we also think this is a sign that any incoming One S update could be extremely far off in the distance, particularly for owners in the U.S.

The T-Mobile HTC One S just got its upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and so if Android 4.2 and Sense 5 arrive, it may not be for awhile. The same could be said for the global variant.

Without a confirmation though, the update remains in limbo without a solid release date and without even an unofficial confirmation that it will be arriving in the future.

An HTC Jelly Bean update up in the air? Say it ain’t so! But yes, that’s very common. Still waiting for HTC Rezound Jelly Bean update, which the tech blogs indicate will not be happening. Gives pause to going forth and getting the HTC One, despite how nice it looks.
