HTC One Windows Phone Possibly In the Works

If recent reports are accurate, HTC could be working on a Windows Phone 8 device that takes its design queues from the recently launched HTC One.

The reports, which originate from a source who talked exclusively with Neowin maintain that HTC is creating a Windows Phone device that will look similar to the HTC One though the publication does say that the device will not be “completely identical”.

The device would come with a display around 4” to 5” inches and include a mostly aluminum body. The Beats Audio enhancements that are currently shipped as part of the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update. It’s been long rumored that the GDR3 update will bringing support for 1080p displays.

The HTC T6 is thought to be a large version of the HTC One.

The HTC One does have a 4.7” inch display capable of 1080p video. Neowin’s source also indicated that the device would feature support for the same HTC UltraPixel sensor and software that ships in the HTC today. Instead of attempting to beat out the 13 megapixel sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the 8 megapixel sensor of the iPhone 5. The HTC One uses a 4 megapixel sensor with a larger physical sensor then what’s typically included in smartphones.

This device wouldn’t be the first time that HTC has ported over designs and features from Android devices to Windows Phone devices. The Beats Audio software and headphone amp was first featured in HTC’s Android devices before it also made its way to the Windows Phone 8X.

The Windows Phone GDR3 update that this device is rumored to need isn’t expected to launch until sometime late in 2014. A Windows Phone Blue update is expected early in 2014. Including high-definition displays and more quality build materials should help HTC’s Windows Phone range better compete against the devices of others, particularly Nokia’s Lumia line.

The Nokia Lumia line currently holds about 80% of all Windows Phone usage, a market that HTC had showed more promise early in the life of the Windows Phone ecosystem.

HTC had been rumored to be creating a Windows Phone flagship with a large high-definition display for release last year or earlier this year. That device was reportedly shelved since Windows Phone 8 doesn’t support 1080p displays.

As Bill the Spammer implied, why the hell would anyone want a Windows HTC One when you can have Android…

Because some people like Windows Phone. I love the platform. I think it is beautiful, useful, and smoother than Android. I am excited for another HTC Windows Phone device, especially one with a full HD display. That’s my opinion. If you like Android that’s fine, but don’t go around stating that your opinion is everyone else’s.

    MALAYSIANS take note :

Well, HTC phones are swell. But their AFTER SALES SERVICE SUCKS. We all know how frustrating it is when after 3 days they haven’t looked at your unit yet and they have NOOOOOOOO idea when someone will look at it. Meanwhile there is no phone on loan for you. That’s the gist of HTC after sales service.

WOW. HTC has signed IRON MAN & SHERLOCK HOLMED as a brand ambassador. It will be interesting to see how things will go from now on. Source: https://www.theandroidtimes.com/2013/06/robert-downey-jr-is-now-htcs-brand.html
