HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich Update Release Date Still Unclear

Published

on

Today is the last day in the month of July and the last day of the promised roll out window for the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update and unfortunately, we still have no word from either HTC or Verizon in regards to whether it will roll out today and meet that deadline or not.

Earlier in the year, HTC promised the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update for June or July. June passed with a couple of leaks which helped to soothe owners over as it appeared, numerous times, that the update was close.

The same thing took place in the month of July. We saw some leaks that many perceived as progress and it appeared that HTC and Verizon might get the update out before the very end of July.

Will HTC and Verizon miss the roll out date for ICS?

Last week, we saw that the update was approved and that it had been moved to Verizon’s update queue. However, we saw that the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX ICS updates hadn’t yet completed and we heard that the queue didn’t necessarily mean anything was imminent, both signs of an update that might not be ready to roll.

An HTC rep even said it would roll out in July and keep rolling out in August.

And now, here we are on July 31st, the last day of the roll out window and HTC and Verizon are staying unsurprisingly quiet about the HTC Rezound ICS update.

Of course, there are still plenty of hours left in the day to roll the update out but the silence is certainly not helping ease the minds of owners who thought that today would be the day.

It’s possible that the companies will roll out the update in the 11th hour but as of right now, the release date remains unclear. It could be today and it could be that HTC and Verizon have had to move it into August.

We’re hoping  today is still the day, but we’re weary at this point.

How about you?

I’ve been a devoted HTC fan since the Nexus One. However, the duration they’ve taken to create this update is simply absurd. I know that fine-tuning an update can take time, but it’s become clear that they simply haven’t put the staff and resources into it. I still love my Rezound, but you can be sure that my next phone won’t be an HTC!

We’ve had leaks, false starts and fake Photoshop change logs. Enough is enough.

Verizon: if there are problems with the OTA, then just tell us. We’re not children. It’s infuriating that it’s taken this long, but we’ll live. We’re angry because you refuse to give any viable answers other than your corporate double speak . It’s insulting and condescending beyond belief.

Yeah this was my first and last HTC device ill be buying. The best hardware in a phone doesnt really matter as much when there are now two newer versions of android available.

Not only did i get my rezound because it was promised to get the ice cream up dste which never came out but i have had nothing but trouble with it since I got it. Then my city decided to do work on the water tower in which Verizon had their tower up on. The city notified verizon a year ago abd did not warn anyone in the area I have not had service since April. It is now July 31 in which I just got my service back. When I would call they would just say its not our fault. I promise. The first chance I get I will leave Verizon for good. It’s a shame verizon used to be the top in communication with tue public and in customer service care. I don’t know what has happened. But they suck suck suck! YOU SUCK VERIZON! Just so you know!

By the time they release ICS for my device, the next release will be out. This was also my first HTC device, It will be probably be the last. If it is taking this long to get the release out for my device something is seriously wrong. The leaked versions run ok so what does that tell you? Is it political, is it QA? Is it contractual hmmm, If Verizon and HTC can’t GTST I’m done at renewal time. Turning into a huge huge fail.

HTC let themselves down.. I was a big fan of HTC phones from beginning. But to promise something and fool people around attitude of HTC is totally unacceptable. I think I am moving from HTC rezound to what ever new phone of Samsung will be there in market at time of my upgrade. But for sure no HTC. I don’t f**king care whether you provide me ICS of jelly f**king bean…

Yeah, I am rather p.o’d about this update mess.. I been lookin for it a while now.. HTC and Verizon have been really monkeying around this year.. my 4gLte signal outages so far this year have been out of control! My customer service has been crappy.. and now I’m sittin around waiting for my update and its no where to be found.. and what’s worse they don’t even care enough to lie to us or tell the truth.. Verizon is just keeping is just keeping us uninformed because its no big deal to them..

But I will say this.. back when the Gingerbread update came out to my Droid X it was crazy I was not automatically notified.. I had to manually chk. For an update. Then an update to that update.. a bug fix or whatever was sent out and it totally fukd up my texting feature.. so sometimes these updates can be a down right nightmare.. lets hope they taking all this time to ensure this does not happen to ICS.

As much as I loved my HTC Droid Incredible and am enjoying my HTC Rezound (see: https://www.epinions.com/review/HTC_Rezound_epi/content_594739498628 ), that I purchased last month to lock-in my grandfathered unlimited data plan, I’m starting to regret not pre-ordering the new Samsung GSIII or going with the Razr Maxx. I’ve always liked the build quality of HTC phones, but support has been disappointing.

the only way htc and verizon can redeem themselves is to update the rezound to jelly bean. if they do that, my anger will go down a bit and i would consider purchasing another htc phone. if the rezound does not get jelly bean, i will never buy an htc phone again. and i will leave verizon the first chance i get.

Well, I suppose they still have until midnight Pacific time to roll it out so they could technically say the made the deadline…but I wouldn’t count on it. Another lie from Verizon and HTC. Do I smell class action lawsuit?

I have been experiencing the bootlooping issue that the rezound has been doing, and have been through 5 rezounds since March.
The last time I called verizon they confference called htc tech support,They told me to send them my phone and they would fix it.
I told the tech I run a business from my phone and can’t be without it….So just send me a new one, (not the refurbished peice of shit verizon sends out)
and I would send the old one back to verizon. They were down right rude and refused. The verizon tech was also amazed at how unprofessional they were about this.
Anyway the Htc tech had admitted that the bootlooping thing was a known issue ,and assured me that the ICS update would fix it. and should be out no later than the end of JULY!!!!!
WELL HTC? What’s ur excuse now?
Let it also be known that Apple sued the piss outta HTC a couple months ago for stealing from them.
Let’s all open up the flood gates and bug the hell outta verizon about this.
I’m out of contract so I’m walkin away tomarrow.
how many people are willing to call verizon and walk away with me?

I am so considering that myself. My contract unfortuantely won’t be over till January, but I have already started shopping around for another provider. I am so peod about being lied to and given the run around. I used to proudly say I was with Verizon, not anymore!!

Okay..so, I spoke to another rep in the corporate office..and she said it shows on her system that the update is indeed out and the release has happened and she didn’t understand why my phone wasn’t receiving the update. She said to keep checking the VZW Rezound support page and to check my phone every hour or so.
