I Need a Doctor: HP TouchPad, Pre3, Beats Envy Notebook in Dr. Dre/Eminem Music Video

Published

Dr. Dre is saved by doctors using the HP Pre3, HP Touchpad and an HP Envy Beats Edition notebook in his latest music video, which also stars rapper Eminem. This is the latest example of how HP’s injecting itself in popular culture.

While Apple may be the most recognizable tech brand in popular TV shows and movies, HP’s making a valiant effort to connect with consumers via product placements and using celebrities.

In the above video, Dr. Dre is injured in a Ferrari accident and is coaxed back to health by Eminem yelling/rapping at him in a futuristic recovery room. Doctors working on Dr. Dre have HP TouchPads and Pre3 phones in hand as Slashgear first pointed out.

The doctors apparently find it necessary to use the touch-to-share feature to transfer files between the TouchPad and Pre3. There’s also an HP Envy Beats Edition notebook in the scene.

Here are a couple of screengrabs if you’re not interested in sitting through the lengthy video.

The I Need a Doctor product placement comes on the heals of the lunch of  HP’s Everybody On global maketing campaign, which features other celebrities, including Alicia Keys.

Many of the celebrities featured in HP’s marketing campaigns have relationships with the company that run deeper than simply appearing in commercials.  Dr. Dre is a big part of HP’s marketing efforts these days. Beats by Dr. Dre audio is baked into HP’s premium computers and the TouchPad.

IndyCar team owner Gil De Ferran doesn’t just run a car that’s emblazoned in HP logos. His team also uses the HP technology extensively to compete.

Here is a video I shot at the race track with De Ferran’s race engineer, which shows how the team uses HP technology.
