Incredible iPhone 6 Leak Predicts New Features

A new iPhone 6 leak predicts all of the key features on board Apple’s rumored successor to the iPhone 5s.

For months, iPhone 6 rumors have swirled around teasing prospective smartphone buyers with tales of an upgraded iPhone complete with larger displays, a new camera, processor, and a brand new design. And as we’ve moved deeper into the year and further away from Apple’s WWDC 2014, we’ve seen many of those rumors begin to firm up ahead of launch.

Today, a brand new leak from Chinese language site Economic Daily News predicts several of the iPhone 6’s key details including screen sizes, display types and of course, the iPhone 6 release date. The site’s claims line up with many of the iPhone 6 rumors we’ve seen emerge in the past two months in the buildup to the device’s rumored fall release.

According to the publication, the iPhone 6 will come in two different sizes, 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches. Both models have been rumored extensively in recent weeks and leaks have shown consumers what the two devices could look like next to the iPhone 5s, HTC One M8, and others.

The site claims that while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will use sapphire material for its display, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 may use Corning’s Gorilla Glass for protection against scratches and damage. Rumors have been back and forth about whether both iPhone models will use sapphire crystal with the 5.5-inch model appearing the most likely candidate to receive the new protective material.

Supply chain sources suggest that Apple is having trouble sourcing the sapphire material, something that could force it to abandon it for the 4.7-inch model and something that could lead to supply issues for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 throughout 2014. The site claims that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is not facing the same supply issues and that yield is on track.

EDN predicts that the iPhone 6 will be released at the end of the third quarter. The third quarter consists of July, August and September which puts the iPhone 6 release in the month of September. iPhone 6 release date rumors have universally pointed to at least one iPhone release in September followed by the release of the 5.5-inch model later in the year, perhaps as late as November.

iWatch

Apple is reportedly hosting a launch event in October that could produce the company’s fabled iWatch. This report, however, offers conflicting information and says that the iWatch will instead be announced at the end of the third quarter, or September. The publication believes that the iWatch will be introduced with a price tag around $350.

The device is expected to feature a curved OLED display. It’s also expected to run a modified version of iOS 8 though details remain scarce in the build up to its launch. A display like this wouldn’t be far-fetched, but an earlier rumor suggests that the iWatch will have a circular display.

The company is also said to be working on incremental replacements to the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. Both devices are rumored for the fall with the iPad Air 2 release said to be coming sooner than last year’s iPad Air release date.

Apple’s iPhone 6 is expected to be much more than an incremental upgrade. In addition to the larger displays, the iPhone 6 is rumored to have a brand new A8 processor, a new camera that utilizes image stabilization, Touch ID, iOS 8, and a thin new design that could measure in and around 7mm.

Analysts believe that Apple could charge a $100 premium for the larger 5.5-inch model. Apple historically has slotted its iPhones in at $199.99, $99 and free-on-contract price points. An increase to $299.99, the same price as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, would put the iPhone in new territory.

Thanks for summing up a few of the rumours. i’ve been looking around the internet for a little while trying to work out what real and what isn’t. I really hope they don’t up the price to $299.99 because that would be getting a little to expensive for a phone in my opinion.

I’m bored with my iPhone. Apple is falling behind. I don’t expect the iPhone 6, to be ground breaking. It’s too little too late. Yeah! We’re finally getting the big screen!!!
