End of the Road Coming Soon

While iOS 10.3.2 will likely come to the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, the iOS 10.3.2 beta 1's absence might've been a sign of things to come.

Nothing is confirmed but we expect iOS 10.3.2 to be one of the last updates the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPad 4 receive from Apple. If we're really unlucky, it might even be the end of the road.

Apple's scheduled its annual WWDC event for early June and it's there the company will likely run down the new version of iOS, iOS 11

iOS 11 is expected to usher in a new era with reports suggesting that its release will mark the end of support for 32-bit applications. The iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPad 4 are 32-bit devices and don't support 64-bit applications.

There's a chance Apple will release more iOS 10 updates (Apple stopped on iOS 9.3.5 last year) but we aren't expecting any more ground-breaking features for these devices. Not with iOS 11 development starting to ramp up and not with Clips, a new video editing app that requires iOS 10.3.1/iOS 10.3, being held back from 32-bit devices.

The end of the road is probably getting close for these devices. No more bug fixes. No more security updates. No more features. With support probably coming to an end soon, now might be the time to start looking into an upgrade.
