The iOS 7.1 release is still a ways out, but with the second beta now available to developers, it is possible to get a closer look at the new iOS 7.1 features and to see what iOS 7.1 performance benefits are available on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s.

Keep in mind this is simply the second iOS 7.1 beta, so there is still much work to be done. But the collection of videos below show how the current iPhones run on iOS 7.1 beta 2 complete with gameplay demos and navigating around the new version of iOS.

Apple first announced iOS 7.1 on November 18th with a vague mention of performance and bug fixes, and Apple continues to add new features to the iOS 7.1 beta.

When it comes to .1 releases for Apple’s iPhone and iPad the focus is generally on fixing issues, adding small features an incorporating one larger feature. From the looks of it Apple is working on an iOS 7.1 update that finally brings iOS in the Car a feature that puts a part of the iPhone on the dashboard of select cars which support the feature.

Here's how iOS 7.1 performs on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s with the second beta.

We don’t know a specific iOS 7.1 release yet as Apple will likely go through at least one more beta, but history suggests it will arrive in the first quarter of 2014. When it arrives we may soon see an iOS 7 jailbreak, which is already in the works and may arrive soon after Apple pushes the major update.

YouTube user adrianisen installed the iOS 7.1 beta 2 on the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s to offer a look at how these perform on the current iPhone lineup. This is a beta, and an early beta so it is not representative of the final software and performance, but many users are interested to see if iOS 7.1 improves battery life, performance and other issues on iOS 7.0.4.

The individual making these videos is fond of colorful language, so be sure to use headphones if you are at work.

The two videos below show off iOS 7.1 on the iPhone 4, the oldest iPhone that runs iOS 7. Here we can see how it performs and some of the new small tweaks that Apple includes.

We can also see the iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1 playing Cut the Rope 2, to see how games handle on the new version of iOS 7 on this older iPhone.

We also get to see the same Cut the Rope 2 gameplay on the iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1

iPhone 5 iOS 7.1 Videos

As we move to the newer iPhone models the overall performance of iOS 7.1 improves thanks to newer hardware. The reviewer says that the iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1 feels smoother with faster animations.

Again, we can see the iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1 running Cut the Rope 2.

iPhone 5s iOS 7.1 Videos

It should be no surprise that the iOS 7.1 beta runs best on the iPhone 5s. This phone is just over two months old and already delivers a better iOS experience than the older iPhones, but the animation speeds and performance appear to improve over iOS 7.0.4.

There are also a collection of games running on the iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1 beta 2 installed. These are shown below for readers that wish to compare them.

Of course these iOS 7.1 videos don’t show everything you want to know about the new update and don’t help address questions about the complete performance and battery life on iOS 7.1, but we should see more on that as the beta progresses.IOS 7.1 is also available for the iPad  from the iPad 2 and newer and the iPod touch 5th generation.
