iOS 7.1 Release Date Gets Even Closer

Published

on

The highly anticipated iOS 7.1 release date has once again inched closer for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users as the latest beta, iOS 7.1 beta 3, has been released to developers today.

In November, shortly after the arrival of the current version of iOS 7, iOS 7.0.4, Apple released the first iOS 7.1 beta in iOS 7.1 beta 1. The first beta lasted until December at which point Apple released iOS 7.1 beta 2. Today, the company has released the third beta in the series in iOS 7.1 beta 3, a sizable update that has landed for developers touting the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

At the moment, it’s not entirely clear what the iOS 7.1 beta 3 update brings exactly though it likely brings enhancements, tweaks and fixes to Apple’s biggest update since the arrival of iOS 7 back in September. Beta releases are typically wrapped in a bit of mystery at first, though, their contents are usually unraveled over time.

The release of the third iOS 7.1 beta is a sign that Apple is making progress with its latest iOS update for iPhone and iPad and it’s a sign that the release date for those on iOS 7.0.4 and below is getting closer. For many, the release can’t come soon enough.

There are still some iPhone 5s problems on iOS 7.

There are still some iPhone 5s problems in iOS 7.

iPhone 5s owners are still dealing with a springboard issue that has been prevalent, for some, since the arrival of the iPhone 5s late last year. A temporary fix for the random reboot issue still hasn’t been found and users have their eyes on a fix inside iOS 7.1. Certainly, nothing is guaranteed.

iPad users with iOS 7 have also been experiencing lag issues with the user interface though from the looks of things, iOS 7.1 is going to be focused on performance and it could be that those issues dissipate once the update is released.

Other iOS 7.1 features are said to include improvement to the speed of animations, a more visible section for TouchID and Passcode settings, and a new animation to Control Center. It also appears to have added a new list function to the calendar application. It’s also expected to include Apple’s long awaited iOS for the Car feature though that still isn’t official.
