iOS 7 Jailbreak Available Now, but It’s Not All Roses Yet

Published

on

In a move that has taken everyone by surprise, the Evad3rs jailbreak dev team has released an untethered iOS 7 jailbreak to the masses, but it’s such a surprise that even the developer behind the popular Cydia jailbreak app store didn’t know that a jailbreak was released.

As a result, users can jailbreak their iOS 7 devices, but downloading and installing tweaks from Cydia might be a bit difficult, and folks might have to wait for an update to the jailbreak in order for Cydia to fully work properly.

Because of this, we’d personally suggest waiting before installing the jailbreak until Cydia gets full support. However, if you want to be a rebel and install it anyways, then you should know that the jailbreak is compatible with all iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4, and other users have confirmed that the jailbreak also works with iOS 7.1 Beta 1 and 2.

iOS 7 Jailbreak

Then again, there’s no harm in jailbreaking and simply just waiting until Cydia gets fixed, but the Evad3rs dev team might issue an update in the near future that includes fixes to Cydia and adds full support, which may require a do-over jailbreak process.

The jailbreak should take around five minutes to install, and the process should be very similar to the iOS 6 jailbreak, since it’s from the same dev team doing the iOS 7 version. Apparently, though, many users are having trouble installing the jailbreak, claiming that it gets stuck at the Apple logo on the start screen, so install it at your own risk.

We’ll be updating you with the latest info, and we’ll have how-to guides up and ready to go within the next couple of days, including guides on what the best Cydia tweaks are, which will be updated as new tweaks become available in the coming months.

first off jailbreaking doesn’t give you apps you want for free, there are several ways to do so, some even work without a jailbreak. Most cydia offers are tweaks for customization and accessability that apple doesn’t offer. The jailbreaks main job is to give you root access to the files system.. this makes it a lot easier to install pirated apps, but no developer endorses this practice.. if you like an app, go to the appstore and buy it!! Xperia Z1 uhm your very wrong, nothing fake, and the reason your saying go android is it’s open source… But most devices require you to go through something to get root access as well.. It is easier to pirate on android but there is more possabilities for instability.. I have an android tablet, a few android phones.. but my main phone is an iphone, i like em both quit hating and siding with one or the other, they all have their pros and cons… it’s like the console war… it’s stupid some people just have their preference!

Remember before Jailbreaking that you must update to iOS 7.0.4 via iTunes and not Over The Air (OTA) as this is a known to cause dreaded “stuck at Apple logo” dilemma.

Dude, could you please shut up? You are making us Android users look like a bunch of idiots who hate on iOS. As I’ve said before, they are both awesome OS’s. And bashing the evad3rs just because tweaks are not working is not cool. Jailbreak is working, the tweaks just haven’t been updated to work with iOS 7 yet.

Obvious cydia isn’t working, Saurik couldn’t test it. Both OS’s have their pros and cons. Choose the one you like and don’t bash other people for choosing differently to you. I personally prefer Android but iOS has some awesome things too.

Well LG already did this but HTC and Samsung already have official utilities to do this. Even the official Android devices (Nexus devices) have this functionality. That’s the idea of Android and all open source software: it’s yours, it’s free, do whatever you want with it.

I have looked all over but can’t seem to find a solution to my problem. I know the new jailbreak is having a lot of issues with compatibility with iOS 7 but whenever I want to install something new to get stuck updating the sources. Is there reason for this or is it just an easy fix?
