iOS 9.0.2 Update: 10 Things to Know After Two Weeks

Published

on

With the iOS 9.0.2 update going on two weeks old and the iOS 9.1 release date heating up, we want to take a look at a few things you need to know about the iOS 9.0.2 update at the two week mark including details about the new iOS 9 jailbreak. Keep these in mind ahead of Apple’s upcoming iOS 9.1 update.

In late September, a week after the iOS 9.0.1 update release, Apple pushed out another iOS 9 update in the form of iOS 9.0.2. iOS 9.0.2, like iOS 9.0.1, is a small bug fix update aimed at squashing iOS 9 problems. It’s the most current version of iOS 9 and an update that we’ve been using for two weeks now.

Two weeks ago we, like many others, downloaded the iOS 9.0.2 update. We downloaded the update for a few reasons.

First, it came with some essential bug fixes including performance improvements for Podcasts, an app that many of us here at Gotta Be Mobile use on a daily basis. Second, it came with a security patch for a passcode flaw. And third, we wanted to share feedback with those feeling leery about iOS 9.0.2.

Bug fix updates like iOS 9.0.2 come with a lot of promise though they often have a dark side. iOS 9.0.2, for instance, has brought some frustrating problems to owners of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. We’ve even seen some problems on our devices.

Those have helped to put the spotlight on it and the iOS 9.1 update that’s currently in Apple’s beta programs. iOS 9.1 is iOS 9’s first milestone update and an update that could very well replace iOS 9.0.2 in a few short days.

With the iOS 9.0.2 update about to hit a milestone of its own (two weeks since release), we want to take a look at how iOS 9.0.2 is performing on key devices, what you need to know now about iOS 9.0.2 problems, and some things to keep in mind before you install iOS 9.0.2 before iOS 9.1.

Since we're at the two week mark with iOS 9.0.2, and because an iOS 9.1 release could come at any time, we want to update you on how the iOS 9.0.2 update is performing on a few of Apple's most popular iPhones and iPads.

We've been using the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus iOS 9.0.2 updates for two weeks now. And during those two weeks, we haven't run into any major issues. Connectivity is good. Battery life is good. The UI speed is still fast and good. App performance is good. It's a solid update on both models.

If you're struggling on iOS 9.0 or iOS 9.0.1, we recommend the iOS 9.0.2 update. The bug fixes it brings to the table are solid and we haven't heard widespread complaints about performance issues. Installing it before the iOS 9.1 update is an option.

Connectivity issues on iPhone 6 AFTER the update of 9.0.2. Apple needs to fix this. Check Apple forums as well. MANY are having this issue

I’m suffering from the same problem. What a pain. It obscures the first 2 lines of text.

I have an ipad and am religous about updating. With this latest update 9.0.2 every single one of my apps and games have been bouncing me out of the programs. I am not happy with this supposed upgrade and hope that the soon to be latest upgrade will fix this problem. While I was reading your article “10 things to know after two weeks”, I was bounced out three times!

This is by far the worst ever. We have 4 iPads and 3 iPhones everything is terrible. On the phones the battery just drains(yes I did every tip out there). The iPad performance is terrible. The keyboard has disappeared on me several times as I type this.

Since updating my iPhone5s to ios 9.0.2 outgoing phone calls cut off after about a minute and a half. Never happened before the update.

I have been having calendar issues where I can’t select a specific date. I also use a headset at times and when listening to a podcast and I ask Siri to pause she will say it is paused but it will not pause.

In email and texting the app automatically closes to main screen after 5-30 charachters. I turned off spell check and auto punctuation and at least have a work around to stop the switching out of the email and text apps.

I’m having the gray line/text problem too, I’m having to restart my phone 15 times a day. It’s really, really annoying.

My iPad is constantly freezing and requires a restart. Also when I press the button twice to clear apps running in the background it simply doesn’t work. You would think after the last fiasco that Apple would do some serious testing before releasing an update.

Yesterday I updated to the 9.1. It is still having the sane problems as the 9.0.2. Ipad is freezing every application and now I have lost some contact info to include phone numbers. My son’s info was included in this mess. I am beyond frustrated! While I am glad to recieve others’ replies from this forum, it would certainly be nice to her from the developers of this 9.0 crap.

My iphone 6 froze at least 3 times since the ios9.1 update. Apps would shut down as well. Hopefully these issues are fixed with the ios9.2! Did not have any of these problems before the ios9!
