iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Release: 7 Things to Know Now

The iOS 9.1 jailbreak release date arrived this week as a surprise to many users, hitting iPhones and iPads just days ahead of the rumored iOS 9.3 release date.

This is an interesting new iOS 9 jailbreak that will help some users, but it comes after Apple released iOS 9.2 and iOS 9.2.1, which don’t work with the new tool.

If you are one of the users still on the iOS 9.1 update you can now use this tool to upgrade. Specifically this is helpful for users who bought a new iPhone or iPad after the iOS 9.1 release, but before Apple updated devices to iOS 9.2 or higher.

The Pangu team also announced that there is an Apple TV 4 jailbreak coming net week. This will not likely deliver a lot of user features off the bat, but it will deliver an important step in the right direction.

Here is a quick rundown of what you need to know about the iOS 9.1 jailbreak release date, compatibility, downgrading and how this plays into a iOS 9.2 jailbreak release or a iOS 9.3 jailbreak release.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Release

Apple normally allows a downgrade for a short period, which the company offered last year. Since that time the iOS 9.1 update is no longer signed by Apple.

Even if you download the iOS 9.1 update file you cannot downgrade to it, which means there is no jailbreak.

Still no iOS 9.2 Jailbreak Release or iOS 9.3 Jailbreak

Keep in mind that this is not proof that a iOS 9.2 jailbreak or iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak release is near.

Apple closed the loophole that this jailbreak uses in the iOS 9.2 update and it is surely still closed in iOS 9.3.

With the iOS 9.3 release date so close you may see a iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak or you may need to wait for someone to develop a iOS 9.3 jailbreak. It is getting tougher to jailbreak, or at least the wait is longer.

There is some proof that a iOS 9.2 jailbreak is possible on a single device and the user stats that this tool delivers a iOS 9.2.1 jailbreak and it works on the iOS 9.3 beta. If this is still usable, we could see it arrive after a public iOS 9.3 release.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak problems

There are some iOS 9.1 jailbreak problems that you may run into when you try to use this tool. Typically problems happen more often if you installed the iOS 9.1 update over the air.

Other problems include a bootloop that keep sgoing until you unplug or force a restart. Make sure you backup your iPhone or iPad before you attempt to use the iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool on Mac or PC.

Fix iOS 9.1 Jailbreak Problems

If you experience the problems above you may need to restart your iPhone, reset Network settings or try jailbreaking again.

Other users report a bootloop problem after using the iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool. Unplugging the phone after 10 loops, and waiting for three more, appears to work. If that fails you can try holding power and home to restart the iPhone.
