10 iOS 9 Features Apple Stole from Android

Published

on

Today Apple took the stage at its annual WWDC conference and announced iOS 9, an upcoming software update that will replace iOS 8 for most iPhone and iPad users. And while Samsung and Android steal features from Apple, they aren’t the only ones, and Apple also steals or borrow features from the competition.

Competition is getting stronger by the day, and each mobile operating system has its own strong points. Everyone copies from each other every now and again, and below is a list of 10 or so features Apple and iOS 9 will be “borrowing” from Android, Google, Samsung and app developers to help improve iOS 9.

Read: How to Get the iOS 9 Beta Right Now

With iOS 9 Apple announced tons of exciting new features, improvements to the core experience for iPhone and iPad users, a smarter and faster Siri, split-screen mode and more. It all looks wonderful, but most of it we’ve seen already.

iOS-9

Starting today select users can get their hands on the iOS 9 developer preview, and early beta access for regular iOS users is coming later this summer. There are tons of new features and plenty to be excited about, and we’ll be going over a lot of the new features below.

We’re not going to argue what OS is better, or who stole what from who first. As we said above, everyone copies the competition to some extent. Whether that be Google, Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, app developers, Microsoft and more. It’s a never-ending cycle all aimed at making our devices better, faster and smarter.

With that all said, lets get started with what’s new by showing you some of Apple’s new features coming to iOS 9, all features we’ve seen before on multiple Android devices.

Split Screen & Multi-tasking

With iOS 9 Apple finally announced a highly anticipated feature users have been asking about forever, and something that has been rumored for months. That being split screen view, or running two apps simultaneously.

iPad two apps

With this users will be able to have two apps open at the same time, on the same screen. Essentially being able to browse iTunes while reading an email or browsing the web, or watch Netflix while shopping online. This is only available on the iPad Air 2.

Read: How to Use Two Apps at the Same Time on the LG G4

This is an excellent feature that users have been enjoying on Android for more than a few years. Devices like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 3, LG G3, LG G4 as detailed above and more can all do this. With some Samsung Galaxy Tablets you can even have four windows open at once. We’re limited to what apps can use split screen, and the same will likely hold true for iOS.

G4 Dual Window-L

Apple also made a magical announcement about a newly improved multitasking system that makes it easier than ever to multitask on iOS. Similar to Android a large card-style UI will show you running apps, and you can easily switch between them. One nice thing is with “Slide Over” a swipe from the left edge will let iOS owners open a recent app on the screen and keep the current app open at the same time, which we mentioned above. Sadly split screen multitasking will only work with the iPad Air 2, as it’s the only iOS device with enough power to support such a task.

Picture-in-Picture

Something we’ve enjoyed on TV forever and also an Android feature users have been enjoying for more than a few years is picture-in-picture. With this magical new iOS 9 feature you can minimize and watch video while doing something else at the same time. This was first delivered to Android by Samsung called Pop-Up Play, and is a popular feature many owners use today.

Screenshot_2015-06-08-14-16-07

Above is our Galaxy S6 playing a video while browsing the web at the same time. In fact, this feature was available with the Galaxy S3 some years ago. With Samsung and other Android manufacturers you can resize the video in seconds, or tap and go back to fullscreen instantly. It’s a wonderful feature, something many iOS 9 users will love.

Spotlight

The entire notifications and Spotlight features of iOS 9 will be smart, easy to use, and learn as it goes. This is probably the most notable and best aspect of iOS 9 if you ask me. Spotlight will suggest recently used contacts, apps, or even places you may be interested in, before you even go to do it. If you’ve recently called someone, their contact information will be in Spotlight. Along with locations you frequent, or apps you use often.

Screen Shot 2015-06-08 at 3.05.34 PM

This is extremely useful, and something millions of iOS 9 owners will absolutely love. However, Google Now has been suggesting frequent places for over two years, along with directions to those places, and even how long it will take to get there.

Read: Android M Hands-on & Impressions

Popular 3rd party apps like Textra will show Android users their most often used contacts and make them easy to access to send a message, or star as a favorite. And in Android M the top of the application tray will also curate often-used or most recently opened apps too. This feature isn’t in stock Android, but many manufacturers and app developers use it because Android is so open and powerful, and now Apple is integrating this right into Spotlight.

Low-power Mode

Something that Android users have been enjoying for 3-4 years, and a native feature to Android that debuted last October with Android 5.0 Lollipop is low-power mode, or battery saver mode. This puts your device into a low-power state, preserving the last 10-20% of battery for things you truly need. The basics like making calls or sending texts.

low-power

With low-power mode Apple promises another 3-4 hours of battery life out of iPhone’s running on iOS 9. Of course you won’t be able to use all the “smart” features of the device, as it puts everything into a low power state. This is available on Android devices from Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola, Google and many more.

GS5-powersave

Above is a preview of  the ultra power saving mode Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S5 back in February of 2014.

Siri Reminders, Search, Proactive Assistant & More

In iOS 9 Siri is about to get very smart, and extremely fast. Apple claims it will be 40% faster and 40% more accurate. Users will be able to tell Siri to remind them about something, and it will instantly make a calendar entry, alarm, or other reminders. Then, using the new Proactive feature, Siri will see a calendar entry and remind users about them. Being proactive and telling you to leave for the Airport early because of traffic, to even giving you information based on location.

Siri-reminder

With Siri you can even ask to see photos, and it will instantly search and bring up an online search of photos. “Ok Google, show me photos of the the Green Bay Packers” works the same way. This is wonderful, but again, something we’ve seen on Android for years. Google Search, and more importantly Google Now, is extremely powerful and lets you do all of this and more. Everything from turning on the flashlight or WiFi, setting an alarm, putting a note in your calendar and more. Not to mention searching for anything and everything.

Google Now is one of the best aspects of Android, and with Android M it will be even better with Google Now on tap.

Siri Proactive Assistant looks to do some pretty neat things, but there’s so many third party apps on Android that do that, on top of Google Now, that it’s hardly new, but a welcomed addition for iOS users. One big benefit of Siri Proactive is that it’s completely anonymous and doesn’t track the user, it isn’t linked to other devices or your Apple ID, and doesn’t invade your privacy. With Google Now you have to opt in, and even give Google access to your entire Gmail account to let it work to the fullest.

News App

With iOS 9 Apple is essentially cutting out a lot of app developers and integrating features right into its own core apps. A brand new app with iOS 9 is called News. This will source out and deliver tons of news content curated from your own personal preferences all in one place.

Apple-news

News is basically a news aggregator of sorts. Similar to Flipboard, which comes pre-installed on all Samsung devices, or like HTC Blinkfeed, but not nearly as powerful. Flipboard has been around forever, even on iOS, and Blinkfeed was introduced with the original HTC One back in 2013.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The Quicktype keyboard in iOS is about to get more powerful too. They’ve announced a new shortcut bar with tools to instantly add photos or files to apps, messages, emails and more all right from the keyboard. Taking a photo, copying text and more is all right at the top.

shortcutbar

Instantly taking a photo, adding one from your gallery, or inserting a file or document on Android has been available for a long, long time. Whether this be the stock keyboard, manufacturer keyboards, or third party keyboards like SwiftKey, Swype, and more. Not to mention in text messaging applications. This makes using iOS easier, but again is another feature stolen right from Android and it’s OEM’s or app developers.

iOS Notes

Similar to Google Keep, Evernote and many other note-taking apps, with iOS 9 the Apple Notes app will let you take down notes, make a note with your voice using Siri, or even snap a photo (like of a recipe) and save it to the Notes app. Basically access your camera from the Notes app.

The Notes app will be more powerful and feature-rich than ever before, but all of this has been available from third party apps on both Android and iOS, as well as Google’s own Android apps for years. While we’re talking about notes, or a recipe for that matter, with iOS 9 when you’re viewing a recipe iOS will instantly let you open a recipe right inside of a cooking app to help you make the perfect meal. Essentially letting you choose what app a link uses.

This isn’t very widespread, and is no where like the “default apps” feature Android uses. With Android you can click a link for IMDb and open it inside the browser, or with the IMDb app itself. This works with almost all Android apps, and is still very much limited to Apple’s own apps, Twitter, and a few other select apps that Apple feels deserves this type of treatment.

Apple Maps

Forgetting about all the hassle of Apple Maps from last year, with iOS 9 Apple Maps will be better than ever before. They’ve integrated tons of features that 3rd party apps use. Borrowing features from Nokia HERE maps, Google Maps, and many more.

Apple-maps-nearby

With iOS 9 Apple Maps will let users get directions for public transportation like buses, subways, and more. Maps lets you find nearby restaurants, bars, shops, and activities, not to mention places that accept Apple Pay.

Screenshot_2015-06-08-14-58-47

Google Maps has been finding nearby places as long as I can remember, offers more transit information that anyone would ever need, integrates Google reviews, Yelp review and more to give you as much information as possible in a matter of seconds. In fact, Google added transit directions and times way back in 2011.

There are hundreds of changes coming for iPhone and iPad users with iOS 9, and here we detailed 35 features users will love. Many of them are great additions to the entire Apple ecosystem, but a vast majority have been available from Microsoft, or on Android for years and years. These are just a few of the biggest features we noticed during the iOS 9 announcement, but expect more to appear when iOS 9 is released later this fall.

here first? Which company sells more phones? Thats what matters pal. Android invented the features while apple perfected them. Good for apple, Google does all the hard work while apple monopolizes and capitalizes. Thats what business is

Samsung sells significantly more smartphones than Apple does, year over year. And if you take the entire Android ecosystem, it’s even more of a disparity.

Apple does NOT sell more phones. They merely charge triple for their inferior fashion phones to people like you who are not at all tech savvy and don’t know the difference between a quad core processor and a dual core processor, and who think that Retina means something special. Apple makes more money, they do not make a better phone and they do not sell more phones.

Yes, but it had to be heavily changed when Google saw iOS running on the 1st iPhone. So I think you can say that Android wouldn’t be what it is today without them copying Apple. Same with all phones.

A total copy of everything Android, but years ago. Which means this is only comeing to ios now. So far behind the times. And Apple bought siri and bought cue to give some features like google now, which won science invention of the year and was in the makeing for years. Apple just buys companys then say they invented it.

    • Joe Shmo

      06/09/2015 at 9:12 am

Who cares, they make ass loads of money and continue to make a great product. Why does it matter who “invented it”. Ford invented the model T should all car manufacturers give them royalties? I used an Android device and although all these features were available long ago, anyone with an Android knows how buggy and unresponsive that OS is simply because the hardware and software is not on the same page. Doing it first is not important, doing it correctly is.

      • Carl

        06/10/2015 at 7:08 pm

Buggy, what man are you useing for a phone a $99 best buy. I buy top tier android and dont have your buggy issues. My iphone work mate has just tried to call the office on her iphone and it froze on screen so she had to turn it off and restart the phone, Now if thats not buggy i dont know what is. In denial the ios users.

Funny how Google bought android, at least Apple developed iOS. Android and iOS are based on UNIX. Both Google and Apple buy companies to improve it’s core OS.

      • Carl

But apple bought its map app and bought siri and bought cue and bought beats, im starting to think wheres the innovation like google now.

Lo it’s funny how u see apple copy android and others. Who copied the App Store, who copied multitouch, who copied pinch to zoom, who copied Apple pay……

Android was suppose to be a keyboard phone. But once iPhone came out it changed everything. So yes they do copy each other. But who dose it better. I do not have and android device that has been upgraded to android 5.*. It’s sad to see u guys complain about who copy’s who. But the reality is that Apple makes sure everyone can use it new features. But with android you need to buy a new device every year to get the newest android update and that makes a shitty platform. Imagine every time a new os was released for ur computer and you had to buy a new one just to support it.

    • Cory Gunther

      06/09/2015 at 9:34 am

How many times did I say everyone copies everyone… More than once in my article. I’m not favoring anyone. And to be honest, I could care less. The more copying each does, the more competition, which in the end is better for US. All consumers.

With Apple it’s a loose loose

    • Jason

      06/10/2015 at 2:26 am

      Rofl.
You probably bought a $200 android phone, then said its laggy, slow and was stuck on JellyBean. Then got a iphone 6 plus saying you got all you needed. I have a rooted Nexus 5 running a custom rom and kernel. Best battery life i have ever had on a phone. Previous phone was iPhone 5s, disliked it days after purchase. Bought Nexus 5, best decision i had made at the time. Bought on release (late 2013), will be getting Android M in 2016, currently Android Lollipop. Has a better STOCK keyboard than any iPhone device, while they just legalised third party keyboards. At least half the price of iPhone. “But the reality is that Apple makes sure everyone can use it new features.” really… iPhone 4s, 5 , 5s cannot use nfc. While iPhone 6 and 6 plus has a bastardised version of nfc and label it innovative. Apple finally added transit to Apple Maps after Google did 2011 but yet only to limited cities. Google Now is still much more innovative than Siri which is only available on a few devices. It displays information that it knows you will need; weather, sport games or scores. Google Now has “Ok Google” which is much better than Apple’s “Hey Siri” which need your device to be charged. It also now has “Now on Tap” which reads your screen and automatically searches what you need. “shitty platform” in what way or form is it shitty? Beautiful material design, better notifications, better “quick settings” and quick to navigate widgets, which apple has yet to sufficiently implement. So please, next time, don’t mix up jealousy with hate.

Who copied Apple Pay? No one. Apple copied the entire premise from Google Wallet, Google simply used the “Pay” postfix. Also with regards to your comment about Android making it so that you need to buy a new phone to enjoy the experience, this is not Google’s fault, it isn’t even the fault of the OEM’s, they have only so many resources to allocate, most of which make sense to be allocated towards newer phones, and where OEM’s fail to create updates, there is no shortage of ROMs available on websites such as XDA created by the community. With Apple you need an iPhone 4 or newer to use the latest version of iOS if my memory serves me correctly, and there is no way to get around that. Additionally, it is very rare that Apple “changes everything”, instead they merely put out a product that is either on par with or below the average for a market, but advertise it in a way to accumulate a sort of following, if you will, allowing them to make more money off of less innovation, meaning they aren’t as consumer orientated as Google, focussing more on the product to sell than on the wants and needs of the consumers.

Also the numbers don’t lie. 83% of iOS users have iOS 8 and only 12% of android users have android 5.0. So no matter what iOS is the winner. Not android and their fragmentation

    • Maxwell Dynamicson

      06/09/2015 at 8:37 pm

iOS 8 on one device is not the same as iOS 8 on another. If they were than all iPad with iOS 9 would have multi-window. iOS has fragmentation. The only difference is Apple lies to you call your version identical to someone else.

      • Carl

        06/10/2015 at 7:51 pm

Even ios 9 is going to be a dumbed down version of its former self, so older models can use it. Dumbed down is the same as fragmentation because older models dont have all the features of ios 9 when it comes out. Fragmentation!

    • decalibrater

      09/17/2015 at 1:51 am

But even ICS options are far better than i0S 9, you will probably see them at iOS 20 or so :)

How can Apple copy Split screen from Android when Android doesn’t have that feature? The reason why it’s limited on Samscum and LG devices because it’s a Android Hack done by Samscum and LG, and Not part of Android done by Google!!! Besides the fact that Split screen has been on Windows forever!!! So if anything, Apple copied Microsoft just like Samscum and LG did!!! There are Windows tablets after all. Again, there’s is NO split screen on ANDROID!!!!

    • JBDragon

      06/09/2015 at 8:36 am

Other features like Pop up Play by Samscum, is NOT ANDROID!!! That’s a TouchWiz, Samscum feature added to their phones!!! So in fact ANDROID doesn’t have it. you let me know when Google themselves add it and all Android phones can do it! You seem to be confused and mixing up Samscum and LG features with Android it’s self. Plus blindly thinking they did it first when it was on Windows first. in fact now these features are on iOS FIRST before Android!!! Being some add-On from Samscum is still a add-on and NOT a part of Android.

As for Apple Maps. Apple has acquired a few company’s that did the things Apple is adding to it’s own maps. So how long have those company’s been working on these features and were they working on them before added to Google Maps? I’d have to do some real fact checking on dates, but if Aple aquired the company that was working on this stuff longer then Google, then as far as I’m concerned, Apple was first! They may not of personally did it first, but acquired a company that did do it first. That’s still first either way. Again I’d have to do some fact checking.

The fact remains your so called list of biggest features, #1 being Slit screen, Android doesn’t have!!! THAT’S A FACT!!! That again is a Samscum and LG add-on to Android and why it’s limited on the Apps that can use it. because it is a HACK to Android!!! you let me know when Google adds it to Android and devices from anyone with Android has that feature. When it works on HTC and Motorola and anyone and everyone else.

… How old are you… One of the worst infantile tirades I’ve read in a while… The name calling, the capitalization of weeks to look like you are making a point… You’d swear Apple, pardon the pun, is feeding you… What makes this more humorous is that you replied to your own post…

A Maps is way behind G Maps. You’d better hope G Maps was out first because A Maps was an embarrassment or of the gate… To the point that Apple owners reverted back to G Maps.

If you bothered to absorb what you read our stopped skimming through articles that ticked you of because of its title, you would have read that the split screen and the pop up features were already noted in this article that they were from OEMs such as Samsung and LG. Is still on Android run devices so it does apply… Maybe if he said copied from Android devices you wouldn’t pop so big a vessel?

That’s the beauty of Android to a degree… OEMs can add features to their devices if they want to provide consumers, wait for it… Choice… A consumer’s desire believe it or not. More choice forces OEMs to move forward…what we all want…

Everybody copies everybody… Is a fact.. And capitalizing words and adding exclamation marks makes your point rather… Well… Childish…

Now why don’t you go in your corner and play with your blocks and let the big people have their big people talk?

You hit the nail right on the head Cory, its like a childs tantrum. What i dislike about apple is they place so many restrictions on how music and videos can be played or shared. There is no go between its either apples way or nothing, Android has lots of options even just makeing a home movie you can record and send straight to a flashdrive then watch on a 70inch plasma. Apple dosent have an answer to this simplicity if you dont have wi fi. But you can also copy and give to relatives or friends who put in their pc or tv. Simplicity at its best.

You missed the part of how Apple could copy split screen for Samscum when Windows had it first!! If anything Apple copied Microsoft as did Samscum!!! Ever hear of the Surface tablet? Fair game. Android M is not released yet, and a TINY fraction of phones will even get it.

Once again, apple users are living in the past with “amazing” “innovative” “revolutionary” supposedly “new” things that Windows and Android have had as features for years. Yawn. The next iphone will probably have “new” features like wireless charging, water resistance, and cross-app communication. Sacrificing having today’s technology for stability is like buying a bike instead of a car for your 20 mile commute to work because it’s “tried and true”. Android isn’t even unstable. Every time iphone users around me get all excited for their “new” tech I want to laugh.

Nice try. Ever hear of Google Wallet via NFC? That’s what Android Pay is. Paypal mobile? Both came before apple pay. and NFC has been on Android devices for years you guys just got it with iphone bend edition. Pathetic. You apple fanboys are all the same, thinking apple invented everything.

          08/31/2015 at 7:48 pm

Nice try, Google Wallet and Android Pay are different. The biggest difference is Android Pay is integrated into the OS just like Apple Pay.
Google Wallet is an app. First, you unlock your phone, open then app, enter a pin to unlock your card then move near the terminal to pay.

With Android Pay all you do is near the phone to the terminal just like Apple Pay. Thats four steps condensed into one. Not the same. Android Pay(if the phone has a fingerprint sensor) and Apple Pay are just as fast as swiping a credit card. Google wallet, not so much.

Apple sucks, all they can do is copy. They even copied the Clock icon and made to pay damages, design was supposed to be their forte and they can’t even make a damn Clock icon on their own. ROFL!

You better get out more some top tier phones cost more than the iphone, galaxy s6. Butthe real idiot is someone who pays top dolarr for a 750p screen because it has the pixie dust on it. Its still 750p with the lowest resoultion of all flagships! Now thats an idiot who does the same thing year after year after year after year, keep doing the same thing you get back the same thing!!!!

      • Carl

        10/08/2015 at 6:27 pm

Update, the iphone 6s just released has the same old 750 p screen, Rest my case to this older post i posted. Same thing year out year in yet apple manages to charge for top tier flagship specs yet still have a lousy 750p screen, keep buying the the same thing year in year out like there is nothing better you get the same thing back. Only it makes you look a little foolish if you have this mentality. This is a law of all humans since the dawn of time, iphones in this world seem to defy this law as iphone owners do the same thing year out year in. Whether the opposition is better or not.

Android Pay is built off of the company SoftCard. Anyone that used SoftCard knows this cause SoftCard notified us that Google bought them and would be integrating their features into Google Wallet or some other services and that we have to switch to another NFC/Tap to Pay application. So like any good business would do, they bought something that already works and worked really really well (I miss you SoftCard) and integrated their business into their own. Why build something that someone else already does extremely well when you can buy them and use their code? It’s just smart business when you know the facts.

As for the other claims people are making, Android was original developed by a company called…..Android…in 2003 and bought by Google (again, buying the company that does things well instead of building their own) in 2005 and released it in 2008 after the previous year release of Apple iOS. Who was first? In concept and design – Android came first by a good year and a half, but through initial develop and financial troubles wasn’t commercially released until a year after Apple. That being said, does it really matter? Just because Apple released first doesn’t make it the best, and also just because Google has the “better” (objective term here) doesn’t make it the winner.

Android and iPhone have their own forms of fragmentation. Just cause your iPhone main version number is the same doesn’t mean you are on the same platform. I remember Verizon having a different firmware version back on iOS 4 that was specific to the carrier, though I’m not sure this is still the case, I can’t seem to find any information about these firmware differences. Aside from that, it’s already been said you may be on iOS 8 on your phone and iPad, but they both do different things. Same with the apps you can install, though these are due to the developer not coding for the larger devices.

The same goes for Android, the maker of the phones (Android is open source remember???) can make whatever OS they want to put on it and they choose Android because it’s OpenSource. This causes fragmentation cause they put their own drivers into the mix and then the carriers put their own requirements (yes iPhone user have these same requirements). But if you buy a Google built phone (made by Asus) you can have a better feel for a “base” image of Android unfiltered.

What does this all mean? Absolutely nothing. There’s not one thing that can be said that says one version is better than another. There’s not one piece of hardware that proves Android over iPhone nor iPhone over Android. There’s not one feature that can hold the award for the winning OS. The winner is which platform works for you. IMHO If you want a device that doesn’t take much effort to maintain or use, stick with the iPhone, if you like the customization options and the ability to make the phone look the way you want, you go with an Android phone. Which Android phone then? Do you want a device that has the space and expandability, look at the HTC models, do you want a device that has the latest innovations and cool “look-at-me” features, browse the Samsung aisle, do you want a device that can integrate with everything you do on your computer (provided it’s not a Mac) go with a Windows Phone.

No one will ever be able to claim based on features, devices, or stability of the OS that they have the best Smartphone. What you need to look at is “What is the best Smartphone for ME?”

Well let’s face it, sanity rarely prevails on these boards. I am NOT an iPhone fan however I do admit that they have a nicely running device. As you said, it’s whatever works for you. My needs change rather constantly so I end up going back and forth. There is something good and bad to say for all of them. I like customization but I also like smooth running devices. I currently use the Blackberry Passport which, like Windows Phone, is kind of a cross between everything. Truth be told, I probably prefer Windows Phones as I like the integration with my Windows computer. I just wish app availability was better. That said, those live tiles call to me. If you like iPhones then stick with it but please do it because that’s what works for you and NOT because it’s what everyone else has. I must admit that’s the one reason that kind of irritates me but here again, whatever works for you.

Google buys companies and incorporates them into already innovational technology while Apple buys companies and literally just changes the name and says they invented it.

This article states that Google Maps included transit information beginning in 2011. However, I was using Google Maps with transit on my Blackberry when I lived in New York in 2009. That made it very easy to figure out where to catch trains and even where to make transfers. I was not able to do GPS walking navigation on my Blackberry in 2009, but I still could tell Google Maps where I wanted to go and it would create a static route for me to manually follow. This blog article looks like transit was only available in NYC back then: https://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009/11/nyc-subway-maps-in-your-pocket-with.html

It is nice to see Apple coming out with this “new” feature six years late.

One more feature Apple copied from Google is the new task switcher in iOS 9. The fanned 3d looking pages showing previews of all the recently used apps in iOS 9 looks like it was plucked directly from more recent levels of Android.

The hypocrisy of Apple is what blows me away. Here is a company that completely rips off features other invented with every release. If you want to do that fine. But then at the same time, they go around trying to sue the crap out of all their competitors. For example the billion dollar lawsuit in Apple vs Samsung because they claim they invented black rectangles. They also sued HTC and most other Android vendors. The American courts go along with it because of course they aren’t going to punish a major american company to help Korean or Taiwanese ones. The fact that they can blatantly copy others while at the same time suing their competitors into submission for IP infringement requires a level of balls that is just staggering.

Another example is their terms of service in the app store. It’s against the rules to duplicate an existing feature of IOS. While there are many examples of users who created features that did not exist in IOS. They maintained their apps for several years and put money and development effort into them. Then one day apple releases an update where they add a new “feature” that some poor guys app has been doing for years. Sorry buddy, you are now duplicating IOS functionality and you get kicked out.

Anyways, this is American capitalism at its finest so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. Apple is a huge corporation and they are very good at extracting money from the masses. IOS look and feel still feels very similar to the iPhone 3G I got in 2007. But somehow they keep selling these products that are rigid/unconfigurable, locked down and dumbed down so that even grandparents can use them. The pedal minor & stolen updates as innovative and have a religious like cult following.

I am using an iPhone 6+ now for the first time in 5 years. The only reason is it was a free work phone and my OneplusOne fell in the ocean and hasn’t been replaced yet. It seems like everything around the experience of using this phone is designed to extract cash from you. WTF do I have to give apple my credit card just to download free apps. Their whole business model and software is designed around driving you to using all apples services so they can extract cash from you.
    – The iPhone 6+ was a $1000 phone. My friends new Macbook Pro with warrenty was $4000. This level of money for hardware is ridiculous compared to Android/Windows.
    – Within the first month of owning my $1000 iPhone 6+ it dropped from a lousy 1ft and shattered. Unbelievable for a $1000 phone. I’ve beat the crap out of a few android phones over the years, I cant believe how fragile it was. At least apple store replaced the screen for $150.
    – They want me to buy AppleCare, iCloud, Music/Media, etc.

The one thing everyone stole from Apple: Smart phones and just made some cheap versions of them. Mobile OS and wrote some inefficient cheap Operating System that could never compete with the worlds number one mobile operating system.

The iphone 6 in 2015 has a 750p screen. What other company can put a 750p screen on a $1000 flagship phone, and the reviewers say oh its ok its an iphone. Every other company on this planet that has a top tier phone would be bashed over and over and over again. What is this telling you, simply apple sharesrule what some of the reviewers write. Put simply if you have some apple shares why would you soil your own pants. The only company that has a 750p screen wake up people, every iphone is a bag of money to this marketing scam that is apple. To sell to the uneducated they made a name up and called it retina, meaning the lowest resoultion screen of any flagship.

Apple know how to market and sell to the less educated in tech knowledge. Retina in 2016 means the lowest resoultion on any flagship phone with a 750p screen. Now thats what i call making a big noise about nothing with the simple word retina! and they keep selling this to the public. Siri was and still is a piece of bought junk from the itunes store, google won science invention of the year with google now, all apple is doing is buying up companys and throwing it at siri and seeing what sticks, all to mimick google now. Apple maps was and still is pathetic next to google maps. Siri does a bing search, i dont know anyone that does a bing search, not in buisness thats for sure. Apple needs to copy from android as its a stale bunch of apps on a screen thats looks like a childs phone. No file system, so shareing and downloading and keeping music files and videos is a no go on this toy phone. Keep copying apple one day your phone will grow up.

Well, I gotta say. Apple sucks in-general terms. I mean, common, Apple copies everyone! EVEN THE CHINESE. I can list 100 things that Apple copied (And some of them, they even trademarked it). Probably in a few years, Apple is going to put a law-suit against Android for “copying” Apple, them Android counter-sues and Apple goes out a business.

how does samsung and iPhone compete having in mind that samsung has already used alot of features which apple iPhone hasn’t but will and in a better way with time.? for if they still compete iphone is better of then. i have used both though apart from some few limitation i feel iphone is better of in it’s fluidity and simplicity. the i6 i have is still faster compared to my galaxy which is still fast but not as it came at first. there are breaks in transitions too its no fluidy

After I downloaded ios 8 on an iphone 5 and saw the phone deteriorate before my eyes, I no longer wanted an Apple product. I’m sticking with Android.
