The iPad iOS 9 release date isn't confirmed but we expect it to land on September 16th, two days before the iPhone 6s release date.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will almost certainly launch on September 9th. Apple typically releases its new iPhones about a week and a half after launch and on Friday. September 18th fits the profile perfectly and it's heavily rumored to be the iPhone 6s release date. 

iOS release dates typically come two days before the iPhone release date. So, that's where we get the September 16th date from. We wouldn't expect anything later than that from Apple and its system upgrade for iPad. 

Remember, all iPads should get the iOS 9 update at the same time. iPad 2 and iPad Air 2 users should all get the update on or around September 16th.
