iPad Pro 2018 Release: 4 Things to Expect & 3 Not To

Published

on

The iPad Pro 2018 release date is getting closer and today we want to outline a few things you should, and shouldn’t, expect from the release.

Media invites have gone out and Apple’s hosting a media event on Wednesday, September 12th.

The company hasn’t confirmed what it will showcase at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, but all signs point to new iPhones, the iOS 12 release date, and brand new iPads.

Apple’s fall launch event is typically followed by hardware and software releases a few days later. iPhone rumors point to a release along this timeline and there’s a good chance new iPads join their iOS-powered counterparts on shelves later this month.

There’s an outside chance Apple saves the iPad Pro 2018 for a separate launch event in October, but at this point we’d expect them to join the iPhones on stage next week.

The company is reportedly working on an updated version of its popular iPad Pro. The new high-end iPad is expected to borrow design elements from the iPhone X while also providing the powerful hardware customers have come to expect from the iPad Pro line.

The iPad Pro 2018’s rumored spec sheet includes Apple’s A11 Bionic processor, a custom Apple graphics processing unit (GPU), Face ID, and a brand new design with an edge-to-edge display. The new iPad Pro(s) reportedly won’t deliver an OLED display or 3.5mm headphone jack.

If you’re in the hunt for a new tablet, there are plenty of reasons to think about waiting for the iPad Pro 2018. And if you’re thinking about waiting, you’re probably curious about the device’s release date, pre-order info, and other aspects of the launch.

Apple hasn’t announced anything yet, but the company uses a fairly predictable protocol with its iPhone and iPad launches and today we want to take you through that.

This walkthrough will help you set proper expectations ahead of the iPad Pro 2018 release.

iPad Pro 2018 Pre-Order Date

iPad Pro 2018 Pre-Order Date

If the iPad Pro 2018 joins the iPhones on stage on September 12th like we think it will, we'd expect Apple to put the new slate(s) up for pre-order ahead of the release date.

Apple's pre-orders typically start at 12:01AM Pacific the Friday after the announcement and we expect the formula to stay intact this year.

If you're planning to order a new iPad Pro the second it goes on sale through Apple and its retail partners, there are a few dates you'll want to circle on the calendar:

  • September 14th
  • September 21st
  • September 28th

With the event confirmed for September 12th and German carriers claiming iPhone pre-orders will start on September 14th, there's a very good chance September 14th winds up being the iPad Pro 2018's pre-order date.
