iPhone 5s: 2 Reasons to Buy & 4 Reasons Not To (2017)

If you’re looking for a cheap phone with a small screen, Apple’s iPhone 5s is an option. That said, most of you are probably better off going in a different direction.

The iPhone 5s, Apple’s 4-inch flagship from 2013, is still relevant as we push toward its fourth birthday on September 20th. It’s a cheap alternative to larger devices like the iPhone 6 and it’ll get bumped up to Apple’s iOS 11 update when it arrives later this year.

We’ve been using the latest version of iOS 10 (iOS 10.3.3) on the iPhone 5s and the device’s performance continues to hold up nicely.

If you’re looking to replace your current device with something inexpensive and small, the iPhone 5s is worth having on your shopping list.

Before you commit, know that there are also some very good reasons to consider going with another iPhone model or an Android device.

Apple’s rumored iPhone models might not appeal to you but devices like the iPhone SE, Google Pixel, and Moto G5 Plus probably will.

Today we want to take you through some reasons to consider the iPhone 5s and some reasons to avoid it for the time being. The next few months should have a significant impact on the smartphone industry so you’ll want to weigh both sides before you make a decision.

The iPhone 5s is Dirt Cheap

The iPhone 5s is Dirt Cheap

First, let's make a case for buying the iPhone 5s right now or in the near future.

If you're in dire need of a new small screen phone and you don't want to spend a ton of money, the 4-inch iPhone 5s is certainly an option. It's small and it's extremely cheap.

You don't have to wait for Apple to announce its next batch of iPhones to take advantage of ridiculous iPhone 5s deals. They're already out there.

For example, Amazon is selling a refurbished, unlocked iPhone 5s for just $170. That includes free two shipping if you're an Amazon Prime member.

If you're patient, you might be able to find it much cheaper than that, particularly on popular resale sites like Craigslist.

If you're on a budget, don't care about specs, and can't wait much longer, the iPhone 5s is worth a look in 2017.
