iPhone 5S Launch Date: Another Clue for September 10th

Published

on

Apple hasn’t issued invites for its iPhone 5S launch date but there is now more evidence that suggests that September 10th is going to be the day that Apple unveils its iPhone 5 successor.

All signs point to an iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch date on September 10th. AllThingsD, which first reported the date, was backed by The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple, a noted Apple insider, who threw his weight behind the date as well. We’ve also seen several rumors suggest that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will both be out on September 20th, a sign that Apple has something planned for the first half of the month.

The iPhone 5S is expected to land on September 10th.

Apple typically releases its iPhone around two weeks after it first announces it and September 10th and September 20th certainly fit that mold. Last year’s iPhone 5 was announced in the first half of September and released just nine days later.

While none of that is confirmed, it’s looking increasingly likely and today, we’re seeing more evidence that suggests that something is close.

It appears that DOCOMO shops Marunouchi and the attached DOCOMO smartphone lounge in Tokyo will be temporarily closed on September 11th for explained reasons. According to Blog of Mobile, a Japanese blog, this is strange given that the stores are usually open 24 hours, seven days a week, making a closure of any type extremely rare.

The site specifically states that the store and lounge will be closed on September 11th for an announcement. September 11th in Japan will be September 10th in the United States where Apple will likely be unveiling the new iPhones. So, either this is a coincidence, speculation or the store is being closed based on inside information.

Evidence is pointing to a September 10th iPhone 5S launch.

NTT DoCoMo is a carrier in Japan and it’s a carrier that is likely going to offer the iPhone 5S, should Apple announce one later this year. Rumors suggest that Japan will be getting the device on September 20th and it’s possible that the carrier will show off the device during this “announcement”.

The iPhone 5S is expected to feature a faster processor, improved camera, and a fingerprint reader but come equipped with a similar design and display. Apple’s iPhone 5C is thought to be a cheaper iPhone model with a 4-inch display and lesser camera and a design that is made out of plastic rather than aluminum.

The devices are expected to not only launch at the same time but get released at the same time as well.
