iPhone 5S Release Likely to Bring Better Battery Life (Photos)

The iPhone 5S release will likely come with better battery life if a pair of alleged iPhone 5S photos which show a bigger battery, Dual-LED flash and iPhone 5 design are to be believed.

If legit, these photos may be for an early iPhone 5S prototype, or could show that Apple is closer to being ready for the iPhone 5S release than expected and is waiting for iOS 7 to be ready to run on the iPhone 5S.

These photos of what appears to be the iPhone 5S assembled, but not turned on, match the logic board that leaked and show a iPhone 5S battery that could carry 8% more power than the iPhone 5.

MacRumors shares two photos which appear to show the inside of the iPhone 5S and the back case. The photos offer a good deal of information about the new iPhone and points to better iPhone battery life overall.

An alleged iPhone 5S photo shows a larger battery that packs more power.

The photo above shows the same iPhone 5S logic board leaked online earlier this week, and a larger battery. The Logic board shows an Apple processor, but lacks any A series branding. MacRumors states the date code traces the processor back to October 2012, so this could be an early prototype or the same Apple A6 processor that is in the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5S battery in this photo is not a final product, as indicated by blank boxes, but it is bigger than the iPhone 5. The battery is rated at 5.92 Whr compared to the 5.45 Whr iPhone 5 battery. This converts into a iPhone 5S battery with a 1557 mAh rating, an 8% gain over the 1440 mAh iPhone 5 battery. Assuming Apple combines a larger iPhone 5S battery with a more efficient processor and a battery friendly iOS 7 release, the iPhone 5S could bring a big boost to how long the iPhone 5S will last on a single charge.

Apple boosted the MacBook Air battery life dramatically with a slightly larger battery and improvements to the processor and system resources that are the biggest battery life users. If Apple can bring a similar change to the iPhone 5S, perhaps we will see a dramatic boost in battery life without the need to switch to a thicker design.

While this photo appears to show all, the home button area is cropped off-screen, which leaves open the possibility of an iPhone 5S with a fingerprint reader. Apple purchased a mobile security company in 2012, which many believe will help the company integrate s fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 home button to boost security.

The second image shows the back of the alleged iPhone 5S, which uses the same anodized aluminum and glass design with a chamfered edge, but includes a new flash on the back.

The pill-shaped dual-LED flash that we first saw on a leaked iPhone 5S blueprint from a case manufacturer also makes an appearance on this device. Other than that, the back of the alleged iPhone 5S looks identical to the iPhone 5. The dual-LED flash will likely go with a 12-13MP camera with improved low light performance according to leaks.

The iPhone 5S release and launch are pegged for September or early October, with many analysts pointing to an iPhone 5S event in mid to late September with a iPhone 5S release landing within the next several weeks.
