iPhone 5S Release May Land in August, iPad 5 & iPad mini 2 in April

Apple may have plans for the iPhone 5 release this August, and may bring the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 to users as soon as next month.

According to sources talking to iMore, the iPhone 5S will come out this summer, in August. The next iPhone will likely look just like the iPhone 5 with a few changes to the specs of the phone. The iPhone 5S will likely see an upgrade to a faster processor and a better camera.

The changes are in line with other iPhone “S” models, which each featured faster processor and better cameras. A new camera in the iPhone 5S would be the first upgrade to an iPhone camera that should result in better images since the iPhone 4S. The camera in the iPhone 5 is the same as the iPhone 4S, just smaller with a sapphire lens.

Rumors for the iPhone 5S say Apple may release more colors than just black and white. Apple might release the iPhone 5S in the same colors as the new iPod touch.

Other iPhone 5S rumors include a fingerprint reader for added security, eliminating the need for passcodes if it works well. There’s also a chance the camera in the new phone will have a new LED flash.

That new flash may either be a smart flash like the one in the HTC One, or a dual-LED flash. Based on Apple’s aesthetics and the probable desire to make the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S look the same, the former seems more likely than the latter.

While Apple may release the iPhone 5S in August, there’s a chance the company will release the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 as soon as next month.

The only major redesign for the next generation of iPads is the new look for the iPad 5. The iPad 5 will likely to have a design that looks more similar to the iPad mini. That redesign includes a new back that’s flatter than the iPad 4 design. The iPad 5 may also have smaller bezels around the display.

According to iMore, an April release for new iPads means the iPad mini 2 won’t have a Retina display as rumored. In that case, the iPad mini 2 will have the same display as the current iPad mini, or at least a display with the same resolution. The lack of a Retina display is likely a way to keep the price of the tablet low and the battery life the same.
