iPhone 6 Concept so Realistic You’ll Think It’s a Leak

Published

on

There are no shortage of iPhone 6 concepts, showing us what the new iPhone for 2014 might look like if designers had free reign over features and looks, but a new video shows off a concept that is close enough to reality that Apple might actually be able to bring it to market.

There are no leaked iPhone 6 photos yet that show what a freshly designed iPhone 6 might look like, but this concept is close enough to the real world, with enough refinements and rumors mixed in that it could easily be mistaken for a leak of an official iPhone 6 promo video.

In addition to creating an incredibly realistic iPhone 6 concept, the video looks and sounds like an Apple promo video. All it needs is a Johnny Ive voice over to make it legit. If you play a Johnny Ive iPhone announcement video in the background while watching this iPhone 6 concept, you’ll get the same feel.

iPhone 6 Concept Video

Sam Beckett shares his iPhone Air concept with the world on YouTube, showcasing a device he believes could be the next evolution of the iPhone product line.

The minute and a half iPhone 6 concept video above shows a slight refinement of the iPhone 5s design, with a larger screen and other rumored iPhone 6 features which we match up to the latest iPhone 6 rumors below.

iPhone 6 Design & Display

The new iPhone for 2014 will likely include a new look to accommodate a larger display, and in this case we see a 4.7-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution that delivers 468 pixels per inch, which would represent an upgrade to Apple’s Retina display in more areas than just size.

This is a very realistic iPhone 6 concept.

Most iPhone 6 rumors focus on two models, and for the mainstream device we continue to hear about a 4.7-inch display with a higher resolution. The actual resolution varies from rumor to rumor and Apple enjoys using specific resolutions, but a 1920 x 1080 resolution would make sense on a 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

Apple invested heavily in a Sapphire company last year, fueling speculation that the iPhone 6 will use a Sapphire display to prevent scratches. In this iPhone 6 concept Beckett includes a Sapphire cover and smaller bezels to keep the size of the iPhone 6 in check. The iPhone 6 is larger, but only by 8% in this concept, and it is 9% thinner. Beckett explains that a larger height and width allow room for components and a larger battery without the need for a thicker phone.

iPhone 6 Camera

Rounding out the iPhone 6 concept is an update camera. Beckett includes a 10MP sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, which is a bump from the 8MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture found on the iPhone 5s. A smaller aperture number is actually a larger opening, allowing more light into the sensor. Rumors suggest Apple may use a better 8MP sensor or shit to a higher MP rating, but it is not concrete at this time.

An improved camera is one iPhone 6 feature we expect to see in 2014.

Overall this is the most realistic iPhone 6 concept we’ve seen in 2014. The design is refined, but recognizable as an iPhone and the specs and size are reasonable, unlike many concepts that only address looks and tack on impossible features.

iPhone 6 rumors suggest a release date in the fall that will bring a new larger display on at least one model, possibly a second with a screen larger than 5-inches. We expect to see a new Apple A8 processor that will unlock some specific iPhone 6 features and a new software that we expect to carry the iOS 8 name.

I do wonder how Apple is going to address the mp race. With both Android & WP sporting 13+mp cameras, staying at 8mp AGAIN would send a bad message…because you can always tell a iphone pic…it is lackluster when compared to a S4 or the L920 family of phones.

I’ve skipped the generation 5 phones, as they’re not much different from my 4S. I’m hoping the 6 has more added features than the one shown in this concept. Otherwise, I’ll probably jump ship. Btw, it’s Jony Ive, and not Johnny Ive. And I don’t want to hear him boast about how he “revolutionized” the iPhone’s UI.
