Free iPhone 6 Deal Announced Ahead of Pre-Orders

Published

A free iPhone 6 deal announced ahead of the iPhone 6 pre-order date will allow Verizon customers to get a free Verizon iPhone 6 when it goes on sale in September.

The iPhone 6 release date is confirmed for September and more specifically, September 19th. That date is confirmed for both the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the new iPhone 6 Plus, the larger iPhone that will be arriving with a large 5.5-inch iPhone 6 on board. Apple also confirmed an iPhone 6 pre-order date for September 12th, or a week ahead of the iPhone 6 release date.

Pre-order details remain scarce ahead of the iPhone 6 release date in the U.S. but that should change soon. In fact, one U.S. carrier is already talking about iPhone 6 pre-orders including a free iPhone 6 deal that will net those a free 16 iPhone 6.

Verizon today announced that it will be taking iPhone 6 pre-orders soon. This all but confirms Verizon iPhone 6 pre-orders for September 12th. In addition to confirming iPhone 6 pre-orders, Verizon also announced an iPhone 6 deal ahead of its order date. The carrier says that it will be taking in old, working iPhone models in exchange for a $200 Verizon trade-in gift card.

This $200 Verizon trade-in gift card will allow consumers to chop the 16GB iPhone 6, priced at $199.99 on-contract, down to free. Of course, there are a few caveats that consumers must be aware of ahead of the iPhone 6 pre-order date. The carrier’s fine print states that the only eligible trade-in devices are the iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and the iPhone 5s. It also notes that the “trade-in must be in good working condition”.

Those looking to take advantage of this early iPhone 6 deal should also note that the “gift card takes up to 2 weeks from receipt of trade-in.” With iPhone 6 pre-orders taking place just three days from now.

iPhone-6-Plus

This is the first free iPhone 6 deal that we’ve seen emerge though it probably won’t be the only iPhone 6 deal that we see in the buildup to the fall and the holiday shopping season. Apple iPhone deals are very rare but with competition heating up, we should see carriers and retailers try and outdo each other in an attempt to pull in customers during the busy season.

Apple’s new iPhone lineup consists of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5c. The larger iPhone 6 Plus will serve as the company’s most expensive model while the iPhone 5c will stand as the company’s cheap iPhone. The iPhone 5c will replace the iPhone 4s which Apple discontinued with today’s announcement.

  • iPhone 6 16GB – $199
  • iPhone 6 64GB – $299
  • iPhone 6 128GB – $399
  • iPhone 6  Plus 16GB – $299
  • iPhone 6 Plus 64GB – $399
  • iPhone 6 Plus 128GB – $499
  • iPhone 5s – $99
  • iPhone 5c 8GB – Free

Apple’s new iPhone comes with many of the rumored iPhone 6 specs that emerged in the months before Apple’s announcement. The high-end smartphone will come with two high-resolution screen sizes, 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches, and it will sport a new A8 processor, a new camera, NFC with Apple’s new Wallet feature, and a brand new design that utilizes the company’s well known metal build quality. These are the specs that will help the iPhone compete with these top Android devices.

It will also come with the company’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor baked into the home button, something that was initially released with the iPhone 5s. The device will, of course, run Apple’s iOS 8 operating system, an OS that will be released on September 17th just two days ahead of the iPhone 6 release date in the U.S. and elsewhere. iOS 8 will also be coming to Apple’s older stable of iPhones and iPads as well.

Its not really Free if you have to give them a good condition working iPhone as trade in.. Free implies no cost or payment.. and it’s seems here “free” is costing you your old iPhone.

So if the “gift card takes up to 2 weeks from receipt of trade-in,” am I supposed to go without a phone for the two weeks that I’m waiting for the gift card to use towards a new phone? I don’t get it.

If trading in your old iPhone to get an iPhone 6 without shelling out any cash isn’t good enough then I’d say you should keep your old phone and shut up.

Unfortunately you are exactly the type of person this marketing ploy is targeted at.. the point I tried to make was that this is false marketing.. I offered no opinion on the merits of trading your old iPhone for a new one.. and with that I will take your advise and shut up..

All you have to do is do the trade in at the store and you’ll receive the gift card immediately.

For what can the gift card be used? If not for your monthly bill, this “offer” is worthless to me (and to many I would imagine).

Well, the article mentions: “This $200 Verizon trade-in gift card will allow consumers to chop the 16GB iPhone 6, priced at $199.99 on-contract, down to free”. So, I will be contacting Verizon and asking them this very question (i.e. If I pre-order a 16GB iPhone 6 on Sep 12th from Verizon online, and pay $199+tax, can I walk into a store and trade in my iPhone 4s for a $200 gift card, and have that gift card applied to my bill?)

Does this mean you would have to cancel your existing contract which would probably cost $350 or do you just agree to another 2 years?

Here’s my experience…we have a 4, and two 5s’s. I was told that unless they are eligible for upgrade then this deal doesn’t apply. And further it’s not $199 it’s UP TO $199. So the only eligible phone we have on verizon is a 4 which is only worth a $30 credit. Either the verizon guys is a boob or this deal is a scam!!!!
