iPhone 6 Release: Shipments Start, Early Delivery Unlikely

Published

on

Some buyers are hoping for an early iPhone 6 release date after iPhone 6 shipments started over the weekend, including some with an estimated delivery of September 18th, one day before the official iPhone 6 release date.

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus shipments started slowly on Saturday morning, and by Monday morning many shoppers are already seeing iPhone 6 tracking numbers and estimated delivery dates from FedEx.

Apple sold over four million iPhone 6 pre-orders in the first 24 hours, and iPhone 6 Plus demand is so great that delivery is already pushed back to November on AT&T.

These shipments for iPhone 6 release date delivery are already with FedEx and in some cases very close to the recipient, but even if you are lucky enough to see an early iPhone 6 delivery listed with your tracking number it’s not worth getting your hopes up.

Apple coordinates with FedEx to make sure there are no early iPhone 6 deliveries. There is always a chance that a few of the millions of iPhone 6 shipments slip through, but for the most part FedEx will hold the iPhone 6 shipments until Thursday and then release them to users.

This is how Apple and FedEx handle the new iPhone release eery year. If you are buying the iPhone 6 direct from a carrier like AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile you can expect the same treatment from FedEx or UPS.

Despite shipping with overnight shipping on September 13th, one of our iPhone 6 orders is not due for delivery until the iPhone 6 release date. There is a note in the tracking that there is a “Future delivery requested.”

You can find your iPhone 6 tracking number to see where it is and when you'll get it.

This allows Apple and FedEx to gather all the iPhone 6 units as close to their destination this week so that there are no delays on September 19th.

Depending on the current location of your iPhone 6 shipment, the package may not move until Thursday September 18th.

Apple and carriers are sharing updated iPhone 6 tracking numbers and shipment information for users. If you placed an order and received an estimated iPhone 6 release date delivery you may already have a tracking number. Check your email for an update with the iPhone 6 tracking number that you can use to see where your new iPhone is.

If you don’t have an email from the place you ordered the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus you can use the following links to look for an iPhone 6 tracking number.

If you ordered the iPhone 6 from Apple but don’t see an iPhone 6 tracking number yet, you can use a trick to track the package by the phone number used to place the order. If you ordered from Apple you can try tracking by Reference on UPS. It’s not clear if this method still works.

If you sign up for UPS My Choice and FedEx Mobile you link your address to their system, and new shipments will show up on your phone or email as soon as they are created. You can then track your iPhone 6 shipment easily and even change details to pickup at a local FedEx facility or deliver to a new address for a fee.

iPhone 6 deliveries need a signature from an adult. If you will not be home you may need to schedule the iPhone 6 for pickup at a local FedEx location or leave  signed release from so the driver can leave the iPhone 6 on your front step, but doing this releases the shipper and Apple from any responsibility if someone grabs the iPhone 6 off your porch.

I called Fedex to request for pickup at a local FedEx location, they mentioned that apparently the shipper (ATT) didn’t allow this. Now, I am requesting this before Fedex goes out to deliver. the earlier status on Fedex showed Estimated Delivery of 9/19 3pm, and now it’s pushed to 9/19, by 8pm.
