iPhone 6s Pre-Order Date & Time

Published

on

The iPhone 6s release date is confirmed and the company will release its new iPhones in late September. You’ll be able to order them much earlier than that though as Apple and its partners will begin taking iPhone 6s pre-orders in a few short days.

Today, Apple took the stage at the Bill Graham Auditorium to announce a slew of new products. On stage, Tim Cook and company revealed the Apple TV 4, a new 12-inch iPad Pro, an iPad mini 4, and two brand new iPhones.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are confirmed and they will be arriving alongside the iOS 9 update in September.

As expected, both come with a number of bells and whistles including a new A9 processor, improved cameras, 3D Touch technology, a new rose gold color, stronger aluminum designs, faster Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and more. The two devices look like they will be worthy successors to the iPhone 6’s crown.

Apple also confirmed several key release date details. First, it confirmed an iOS 9 release date for September 16th. While many expected the iPhone 6s release date to land on September 18th, they will instead arrive on September 25th, more than a week after the iOS 9 update.

While the iPhone 6s release date is still weeks away, the iPhone 6s pre-order date is not. Apple and its partners will begin taking pre-orders well ahead of the iPhone 6s release. With iPhone 6s pre-orders confirmed, we want to take a look at everything you need to know about the iPhone 6s pre-order date.

iPhone 6s Pre-Order Date

Apple will start taking pre-orders this Saturday, September 12th. Apple normally starts taking pre-orders the Friday after the iPhone launch date but this year it’s doing things a little bit different. And that’s a good thing for those of you who have work on Friday.

Instead of setting an alarm for Friday, you’ll have to set an alarm for Saturday night. If you want to be in front of a computer to pre-order, you might have to sacrifice your Friday night in order to put in an early iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus pre-order.

Of course, you’ll also be able to put in a iPhone 6s pre-order on your phone so if you want to stay out late and pre-order an iPhone 6s, you should be able to do that.

We recommend doing it at home in front of a computer though. Apple and U.S. carriers will need very specific information and trying to find it on a phone while out-and-about probably isn’t going to be ideal for most of you.

iPhone 6s Pre-Order Time

Per usual, iPhone pre-orders will start at 12:01AM PST. Apple’s confirmed that start time through its website so that’s official and it won’t change.

This iPhone 6s pre-order date is for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the United States. U.S. Cellular might also be a part of the show though the carrier still hasn’t confirmed. We expect it to offer details about its plans in the near future.

Apple will also be releasing the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK.

Those of you who live in those countries will need to convert to your time zone. 12:01AM PST is not 12:01 in Australia.

Get Ready for iPhone 6s Pre-Orders

Apple is making it easy for you to pre-order an iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus through its website. The carrier has provided prospective customers with a simple tool that allows them to check their upgrade and gather all of their pertinent information ahead of the iPhone 6s pre-order date.

To start preparing for your iPhone 6s pre-order, you’ll want to head here if you’re looking to buy on AT&T, Sprint or Verizon.

Apple notes that “you may be eligible for a reduced price on a new iPhone depending on your account status with your carrier.” To find out if you are, you’ll need your wireless number, billing zip code and the last four digits of your SSN.

You can also sign into your AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon account through their respective websites to check on your eligibility.

Use the Apple Store App

We haven’t heard about any major iPhone 6s shortages but there’s a good chance that some devices will sell out ahead of the iPhone 6s release date. There’s also a chance that Apple’s website, or your carrier website, will fail you when the clock strikes midnight. So you’ll really want to be on top of your game.

We, and Apple, recommend using the company’s Apple Store application. We’ve had great success with it in the past and it’s not surprising to see the company touting its capabilities before the iPhone 6s pre-order date.

You can also tap “Get ready to pre-order iPhone 6s” in the Apple Store app on your iPhone — the best way to buy iPhone. Just select “Remember Me,“ and we’ll store your wireless account details so you can save time when pre-order begins.

If you know that you’re going to be staying up to pre-order an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s, you should take Apple’s advice.

Release Date Reservations

Apple will be launching a new iPhone Upgrade Program in the United States that will allow you to get a new iPhone every year for $32.41 per month. The program also comes with coverage from the company’s AppleCare+ warranty program.

The iPhone Upgrade Program page notes that you’ll be able to “make a reservation online, starting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on September 12, to buy in store.”

It looks like you’ll be able to do iPhone 6s in-store pickup with that plan though it’s not clear yet if you’ll be able to do it with them all.

Apple offered in-store pickup with the iPhone 6 so there’s a chance that that option will be available for all iPhone 6s pre-orders.

AT&T & Verizon iPhone 6s Pre-Orders

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that AT&T and Verizon iPhone 6s pre-orders will come with some big changes.

Apple won’t be selling the AT&T iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus on-contract. If you want to buy on contract, you’ll need to buy through AT&T.

iPhone-6s-pre-order

You won’t be able to buy the Verizon iPhone 6s or Verizon iPhone 6s Plus on-contract through Verizon. Verizon killed that option ahead of the iPhone 6s release date and you’ll need to buy them on one of its Device Payment plans.

Apple says that Verizon iPhone 6s pricing will vary so it looks like you might have that option through Apple and perhaps Best Buy as well. Best Buy still sells the Verizon iPhone 6 on-contract.

iOS 9 Release Date: 7 Important Details

iOS 9 Release: Devices Getting iOS 9

At WWDC, Apple confirmed an iOS 9 release for several devices including the iPad 2, iPhone 4s, and original iPad mini. The iOS 9 beta was full of ups and downs but the company's plans haven't changed. The iOS 9 update will be coming to all iPhones, iPads and iPod touches capable of running iOS 8.

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Air
  • iPad 4
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 2
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2
  • iPad mini
  • iPod touch fifth-gen

No surprises here. The iPhone 4 will not be getting iOS 9 and iPod touch models older than the fifth-generation variant will stay on iOS 7 and below.  The iOS 9 update is the fifth major update for the iPad 2 and the fourth major iOS update for the iPhone 4s.

It's also worth noting that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be using the iOS 9 update as both will run the software right out of the box.

If we pre order, will it arrive on the 25th? Is that the idea or will it arrive after?

Saw somewhere else that it will ship on the 25th. If that’s true then I would say Monday delivery earliest.

don’t we still need to set an alarm for Friday night instead of Saturday night? So by 11:59pm on the 11th (Fri) I am 2 minutes away before placing an order which is happening at 12:01am on the 12th (Saturday).

Could your article be wrong? If orders start at 12:01am that means you need to set your alarm for FRIDAY night, NOT Saturday night!

ok I’m confused, is the preorder Friday/Saturday night, or Saturday/Sunday night?

What does this mean, “You won’t be able to buy the Verizon iPhone 6s or Verizon iPhone 6s Plus on-contract through Verizon. Verizon killed that option ahead of the iPhone 6s release date and you’ll need to buy them on one of its Device Payment plans.”? I was hoping to pre-order a phone on a new line/contract and swap everything around once my current 2-year contract is up in December. Would I still be able to do that?
