iPhone 6s vs. iPhone 6 Plus: 5 Things to Know in May

iPhone 6s rumors in May have firmed up around an Apple A9 processor. If this is true it will likely be a step up from the A8 chip found in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Improvements to the processor, and software, could mean better looking games and improved battery life.

Early reports also indicate Apple will boost the RAM from 1GB to 2GB. Kuo backs those rumors as he also believes that Apple will add 2GB of RAM to the new iPhone. That would be huge for the iPhone 6 Plus series, a series that is excellent for gaming and multitasking due to the big screen.

On top of that, we continue to hear new details about iOS 9 and it appears that Apple is working hard to ensure a smooth experience on older phones.

According to 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman, Apple has "restructured its software engineering process to better support older hardware." He claims that Apple might even release the iOS 9 update for the iPhone 4s, a device that was released in 2011.

This is big because it means that Apple might be looking to keep iPhone 6 Plus software support around for more than the usual three years. It also could mean that we won't see the same type of iOS deterioration that we often see as devices get older.

That would make the iPhone 6 Plus extremely attractive if Apple decides to drop the price when the iPhone 6s arrives. We should find out more during WWDC 2015 in June.
