Apple iPhone XR pre-orders start tomorrow and if you want a very specific color with a very specific amount of storage, you might want to put in an order soon after pre-orders go live.

iPhone XR pre-orders begin at 12:01AM Pacific Time on Friday, October 19th. This means that those of you in the United States who want the 6.1-inch model on your doorstep on October 24th might need to stay up late or wake up early to place an order.

Staying up late or waking up early doesn’t guarantee you the iPhone XR model you want for release date delivery. However, pre-ordering is the best way to avoid lines and an in-store pickup on the device’s release date.

If you want your iPhone XR as soon as possible, you’ll want to prepare before the clock strikes midnight. iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models sold out at Apple (and other retailers) soon after pre-orders went live in September and we could see the same from iPhone XR pre-orders. Apple’s reportedly had production problems with the 6.1-inch model.

If you haven’t picked a specific iPhone XR model by the time pre-orders come around, you might not get the model you want right away. We might not see a full sell out, but we expect shipping times for some colors and storage options to get pushed into early November.

Favorite the iPhone XR You Want Right Now

You can go to Apple's website right now and favorite the iPhone XR model you want to pre-order. This will help streamline the pre-order process so you don't have to jump through a bunch of menus when pre-orders start.

Here's how to favorite the iPhone XR model you want on Apple's website.

Open up Apple's iPhone XR page in your browser or in the Apple Store app.
Login to the account you'll be using to pre-order the device.
Select the iPhone XR model you want to pre-order.
Select the Color, Storage and how you want to pay.
Click the little heart next to the "Select" button at the bottom if you're doing this via Apple's website.
If you're doing it via the Apple Store app, tap the heart in the upper right.

This will store the iPhone XR model you want in your Favorites. Once pre-orders go live you'll simply want to head to your Favorites and tap or click on the device you favorited. From there you'll be able to buy the phone you want in seconds.

To access you Favorites you'll want to click the little bag in the top right corner if you're ordering via Apple's website.

If you're planning to use the Apple Store app, click the blue icon (it looks like a head of a person) in the top right corner of the app.
