LG G3 Rumors Take Aim at Galaxy S5 Display

Published

on

With Samsung’s Galaxy S5 and the new HTC One (M8) officially here, the next major smartphone release for 2014 will be the LG G3. Details are still slowly appearing about the upcoming phone, and the one feature that is becoming extremely clear is the impressive display LG hopes to deliver.

This isn’t the first set of rumors surrounding the new LG G3, but these latest reports once again confirm that LG will be taking aim at the Galaxy S5, mainly in the display department, and offer something many expected Samsung to debut back in February. That being a brilliant 2560 x 1440 full HD 2k resolution display.

Lately Samsung received some heavy praise for the Galaxy S5 display, with reports suggesting it’s actually the best screen of any smartphone on the market. However, that’s only comparing it to a few phones released last year, including the iPhone 5S. If all reports are accurate, the LG G3 will sport a 5.3 or 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 full HD display this year, which should blow anything else out of the water.

Sources confirmed this week to AndroidSAS that the above rumored specs for the LG G3 are indeed accurate, and it will be one of the first 2k displays to hit the United States market. Add this to a recently leaked screenshot sporting the same resolution, and the rumors are finally starting to come together. The screen size is still up in the air, but the resolution isn’t. It should have the best screen of any Android smartphone in the US, and take on the new Oppo Find 7 with its super HD display.

LG G3: 6 Things We Know So Far

If the latest reports and trends continue, the LG G3 will be one of the most impressive smartphones released in 2014. Previously they’ve waited til after the second quarter of the year to have the latest and greatest technology that even Samsung doesn’t offer, and we’re hearing the same will come true in 2014.

The LG G3 could sport a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor which will be the best of anything currently available, 3GB of RAM, a huge 3,300 mAh battery or bigger, and a few other key features Samsung has. Those include a full IP67 dust and water resistant design, a 13 or 16 megapixel IOS camera on the rear, and we’re hearing they’ll take on the iPhone 5S too. Below is a fan-made concept of what we could expect.

We’ve heard LG will have a water “resistant” LG G3 that features top-end specs across the board, take on the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S, and will even include a fingerprint sensor for added security. All inside their first aluminum smartphone. Meaning they may even aim for the HTC One with an aluminum G3.

While this sounds a bit too good to be true, LG has been steadily improving with each release, while more and more details are suggesting 2014 will be the year for LG. With the HTC One (M8) being similar to the version before it, and Samsung’s Galaxy S5 going with another safe design, LG has a chance to steal some customers with the LG G3.

Finally, rumors suggest LG will aim for a late May or early June release instead of its traditional September release window, in hopes of taking more attention from the Android and iOS competition. We’ll be on the lookout for more details.

Hopefully the Nexus 6 is based off of the LG G3, because that’s the phone I want.

Would be a perfect phone of they would clean up that awful interface they have. HTC and motorola seems to be the only companies that know how to make a good Android skin.

I’m hoping the G3 comes to the Google Play Store as a GP3. That’s what I’ll be buying
